Monday, 1:00 p.m.: Convene and resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S. 1348, the Comprehensive Immigration Legislation.
“Specter: “It’s NOT amnesty.” Wow, they sure don’t like that word!”
exactly the same thing he said last year.
Six Democratic senators missing....
.... For the 5:30 p.m. vote on the motion to proceed on an immigration bill. Could be a nail biter, a senior Democratic aide says.

Which also works out perfectly for the self loathing liberals.
Called both NJ senators. Lautenberg’s office did not even ask for any constituent info; staffer just wanted to hang up on me. Menendez’s office staffer put me on hold three times and then was rude when they actually took my call.
Has this bill been printed and put on the internet for us to see?
Cloture time
Cloture is sought to limit debate to 30 hours max. Other than that, they can "debate" this lipsticked pig as long as they want.
Standing Rules of the Senate
RULE XXII
PRECEDENCE OF MOTIONS
Specter doesn't realize this Bill will in itself create anarchy. We're close to that now.

Hhhmmmm...interesting.
Here we go...they’re voting now.
Lipstick on a pig.
I am feeling better that the bill will not get out of the Senate — both the left and right will coalesce to kill the bill and then blame each other.
Inconceivable that the RATS would not accept this bill. Bush has given them a poltical gift for a generation. They should take it.
"Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"
They're voting on the cloture thingy right now. 17 on board so far...
Damn. We need a near-Pentecost here.
For now, the Dems want to legalize the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals. Subsequently, they will modify the bill to take out what the Reps put in as part of the compromise.
I think so....?
LOL — You’re on a roll!
I’ve seen it first hand friend, this is about existing families here. They are real, they are breathing and they are breeding and creating revenue that the Government wants to capture. This is not about another vote or an ideology, it’s about real people ....And your pocketbook, don’t forget that.
The bill in its current form may not get out, but there will be some more horse trading. I am fairly sure that there are enough votes for cloture, so the bill will be debated and voted upon. Anything that legalizes the status of the 12 to 20 million illegals is a victory for the Dems.
McConnell is recommending cloture, with the justification that that they can have plenty of debate afterwards.
Disappointing.
Because Republicans may have 40 votes to clock cloture, but who knows if there’s 50 votes in the Senate to block the bill itself.
Here we go...
