To admit Bush was right would require them to set aside decades of hate for the Bush family as well as some of their tightly cherished political dogmas. Like most people, they would rather blame the one showing them their errors then admit the errors exist.

It one of the more sorry aspects of US politics is how often things are done because of the egos of the players rather then the best interests of the country.

Nicely put. Along with the MSM, these conservative elites seems to diminish themselves as new media takes shape. That angers them as they become obsolete.

Immigration is the one point wherre I do not support W. There is a groundswell against this legislation, which I hope will have an impact.

Do you really think a dim pres, or a continued dim congress will do better?

Wow - that’s a powerful statement - and your history lends credibility to it’s impact and significance.

Sad state of affairs that leads us to a point where someone with your background is pushed to issue such a statement.

Thanks for putting it forward - I hope a lot of people see it.

I saw a snip where Lou Dobbs said this has 0% chance of passing.

For what that’s worth.

I find Lou to be a little pompous - but that man has held tough on this issue - there’s no doubt about that.

I am not convinced we have to have a temporary worker program based on the number of immigrants who want to migrate to the USA and become citizens. If we made legal immigration smarter and easier there might be more people to take these jobs than we need. The current low limits to legal immigration and the long time it takes to get through all the red tape seem to encourage illegal immigration.

That THIS is what Victory looks like?

Well said.

The neoLibs don't know what Victory really is,
other than tearing apart a political opponent.

That seems to be the only Victory they can relate.

It where a lot of really great FReepers meet for general chat...a little silliness and to show their support for the troops.

It’s a really great place...stop by sometime.

Just don’t let that one guy sell you a burka! LOL!

The bill calls for a 'photo' ID and the requirement for proof of citizenship in order to vote. The dims are saying the elderly and poor will be most harmed.

Where does 'no photo ID' get by in the real world?

The urge to political suicide in the GOP Leadership is simply unbelievable.

Last year you were blaming your fellow conservative Freepers for their disgust with the Republican Party over its wholesale sellout of America.

I suppose it's "progress" that this year you properly recognize the Republican "leadership" and not other conservatives as the true cowards and destroyers of the party.

I'd ask that you apologize to all whom you savaged and insulted last year, but the times are too dismal and I suspect you find some justification for yourself in any case.

Victory for the Libs is anything that makes this country look bad and/or helps out teir socialist brethren.

Note that most of this same crop of Democrats did the same thing to Reagan when he made the final surge to end the the Cold War.

If they weren’t trying to undermine our efforts to stop the USSR’s spread of comminism...they were going to El Salvador to rub elbows with Ortega.

Good morning. Did any of the talk shows mention that today is Armed Forces Day?

They may very well wander the land of minority status in Congress for another 40 years.

If the dems win the White House and stay in the majority in Congress, I see our country (and the world) changing so dramatically that 40 years from now, no one living will recognize the world of 2007.

In 1907 no one would have anticipated 2 world wars before 1947.
Now we have the Socialist Party ascending in America, just as Europeans are pulling back from consequences of their Socialism.
We also have massive China quietly positioning themselves for world power. [Has anyone seen any reporting on Panama lately? I thought not.]
We also have the demographic reality of increasing Islamism worldwide.

We must fight for Republican elected officials as if this is our last chance, because I believe it will be our last chance.

“Here in Texas, the dims in the state house are working to kill a voter ID bill. I wonder why?”

They already have killed it with the help of two RINO’s.

The PC attitude you point out is already dictating public policy. It is intimidation, not based on principle and it’s literally destroying my country.

What the world thinks of us .. matters- but it does not matter if there is no us, left.

If you think that attitude is overly dramatic- a year ago I would tell you I would never think or believe what I do now.

On Fox, Judge O’Connor claims it is outrageous for the
US Congress to dare threaten to impeach a federal judge
for citing ‘foreign law’ prior to going activist against
the US Constitution.

On the contrary, impeachment in such a case
would be a reasonable and American thing to do.

Did you also notice that we only have a .500 batting average with our two Senators?

KBH’s Austin area roots are shoing on this “Destroy The Republican Party” bill.

Fortuneately Cornyn is against it.
