This country became great by entrepreneurship and taking responsibility for one’s own well-being. There were a couple of people in this thread (like Diana) who suggested ideas for responsibility. Most of these threads and all of the cat food threads suggested that bigger government is the answer whether to provide more inspections or to limit or regulate trade. But the same fools who want to limit trade will happily shop at Walmart and never look at the labels.

That’s why I fear we’ve been conditioned over time for socialized medicine etc.

The most common saying I heard growing up when someone did something annoying was: “(shrug) Well, it’s a free country!”

Now the most common response is “There oughtta be a law.”

Individual liberty is ok nowadays as long as it fits in the strict confines of the least common denominator of popular opinion.
