FORMER US president Jimmy Carter has attacked outgoing British Prime Minister Tony Blair for his "blind" support of the Iraq war, describing it as a "major tragedy for the world".
In an interview today with BBC radio, Mr Carter was asked how he would describe Mr Blair's attitude to US President George W. Bush. He replied: "Abominable. Loyal, blind, apparently subservient.
"I think that the almost undeviating support by Great Britain for the ill-advised policies of President Bush in Iraq have been a major tragedy for the world."
Mr Blair, who arrived in Baghdad today on an unannounced visit, has suffered politically and personally since declaring his support for Mr Bush after the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States.
His backing of the war despite massive public opposition divided his governing Labour Party while the absence of weapons of mass destruction - the basis for war - and apparent manipulation of intelligence eroded trust.
There was further discontent last year when he joined Mr Bush in refusing to back international calls on Israel to stop its bombing of Lebanon.

JIMMY CARTER lives and breathes here in safety...
...while American Soldiers are being killed by Iran-made roadside bombs made possible by a Muslim takover of Iran he alone made possible by toppling the Shah of Iran’s Rule.

“Carter was the worst president in memory and an even worse ex-president.”
He is consistent. Consistently wrong.
Tony Blair freely determined to boldly stand against evil. I thank Tony Blair for this intrepid decision.
Peanuts for brains, er jimmy carter cowers behind statements of dishonor and shame.
I stand against evil and carter. jimmy coward is a coward and a traitor. And if he don’t like being called traitor, then he should stop giving me a reason to do so.
If carter thinks it is that bad in Iraq. Then he should go over there and stand a post. He can fight them there or fight them here. But he won’t fight them anywhere because he sides up with the evil bastages.
That makes jimmy carter a stinkin’ traitor.
That is my attack on jimmy carter the treasonous ex-President with peanuts for brains.

IRAN recently publically stated:
.
“It’s time for the world to start imagining a world...
.
...without an America in it.”
.
And thus THE Battle of the 21st Century has just been enjoined.
Pray and prepare.

The guy is an endless fountain of weapons grade stupidity.
Isn’t it time that legal action was commenced to put him away in the home for the mentally incompetent? This guy ought to be seen for the out and out traitor he is. The damage he has done to America is incalcuable. He gutted the CIA and laid the foundation which Clinton continued to make us the laughing stock of the world and 9/11 could be laid squarely at his feet.
Good grief and guddae! I wish someone would attack Jimmah Cottah for a change!
Ah, Carter and the BBC. Made for each other. Dumb and dumber.
I might go get a bottle of blue sapphire and put it on the shelf to be opened on the momentus occasion.
“Good grief and guddae! I wish someone would attack Jimmah Cottah for a change!”
I know. Jimmy the wimp always gets a free pass.
I generally don’t think it’s appropriate to celebrate the demise of anyone....but in his case, I make an exception. I will breath a huge sign of relief when that vicious, evil, doddering old b@stard takes the dirt nap. It will be a good day for the country and for the world.
What I want to see is some great columnist with national recognition, glean all the inane statements of Jimmy and write them in a national column reminding us just what an evil old murmuring anti-American old codger this miscreant has become. Say, Buckley, Cal Thomas, Novak, or better yet, Charles Krauth.
God put everyone here for a purpose. Jimmy Carters purpose is to serve as a calibration tool for your moral compass.
You've made Historians get off Millard Fillmore's back as being the worst president in U.S. history. And as a lifetime Fillmore fan this is greatly appreciated.
Keep up the good work a$$hat.
(Millard Fillmore - the Rodney Dangerfield of presidents)
What a piece of work Jimmy Carter is and continues to be.
Jimmuh tried to surrender the US to the USSR before I was born. That is enough to not trust him.
You’ve given me an idea - I think I’ll start planning my own “Good Riddance Jimmah” party!
