Sometimes I think that America is the only moral authority left in the world. The rest want appeasement.
FREEP THIS POLL ***PING!*** FRmail me if you want to be added or removed from the Fearless Poll-Freeping Freepers Ping list. And be sure to ping me to any polls that need Freepin', if I miss them. (looks like a medium volume list) (gordongekko909, founder of the pinglist, stays on the list until his ghost signs up for the list)

Ha! This question again. I am old enough to remember that America’s moral authority was pretty well slammed when we were about the only one standing pat against Communism. Now the very people who gave gained so enormously by our efforts and sacrifices in that fight are telling us we are bullies and have overstepped our place in the order of things.
Pacific rim countries are now enjoying galloping economies because they are NOT communist run. Ask any of them what they think of the US now. I work at a Univ. and foreign students here ( I won’t say which) think very ill of the US... albeit while they are here enjoying the benefits and advantages of the US economy, ed. opportunities and generally better standard of living... even for students, the most notoriously poor and struggling class in any society. Even as students here, they enjoy a better lifestyle than as non-students at ‘home’. NICE!

I would think a better question would be if our moral authority in the world community has suffered from our morals in this country slouching towards Gomorrah.

America has lost all her moral authority but no because of Iraq directly. We have lost it because of all the crooked politicians. They not only steal us blind, they vote for wars and then turn around and not support those who are giving their lives for this country. How can any foreign country trust America. We started wars in Korea,Vietnam and now in Iraq and squeamish politicians would sacrifice our troops and not allow them to win and pull them out because of political concerns over American not having the guts to really stand up. America will get what she deserves and I am affraid we wont like the taste of it.

The pollster and voters should go in Europe, Asia and the Middle East to look at the newspapers there. The rest of the world has not 1/3 of the debates, intellectual columns and books that appear in the United States. Believe me. As an European, I tell you : the day you are appreciate by Europeans and the rest of the world is the day you are on the wrong path. BTW, did you know the Congress was more unpopular than Bush ?

Who takes the time to go to a website and vote “undecided” in a poll?

There was a moral game out in the late 80’s where you were presented with a moral dilema and you could choose yes, no, or depends - but you had to justify your “depends” answer.
One... shall we say... well... she was an elementary education major that was failing...
ALWAYS answered “depends” and her “reasoning”, mostly, was that she didn’t want to take a stand on the issue.

I have grown weary of debating those who show up unarmed for a battle of wits. Like your tagline!

Probably because they haven’t impeached Bush or Cheney yet. ;)
