PELOSI LOWERS THE BOOM Wed May 16 2007 14:43:59 ET

After losing a string of embarrassing votes on the House floor because of procedural maneuvering, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has decided to change the current House Rules to completely shut down the floor to the minority.

The Democratic Leadership is threatening to change the current House Rules regarding the Republican right to the Motion to Recommit or the test of germaneness on the motion to recommit. This would be the first change to the germaneness rule since 1822.

In protest, the House Republicans are going to call procedural motions every half hour.

Why? They will just blame it on the Republicans. In any case, I’m glad the Pubs seem to be sticking it to her.

Remember how we didn’t have the brass b***s to re-structure forbidding fillibuster on judicial candidates? Oh, no, we said, wringing our hands...if we did that, the other side might use it against us if they EVER got back in power!

How about the house repubs refuse to vote on any matters as a sign of protest, would that work?

When Pelosi lowers her broom, she lowers it on Republicans! I’ve never heard of this move in Congress before. Next thing you know, she’ll shut down the government and call for a hanging party in the White House!
I’d love to know what Duncan Hunter has to say about this.

Lets see what the MSM spin on this is. (if they even mention it) It is about time for the republicans get serious about a showdown with these scumbags. There is no point in practicing nicety or diplomacy with these ruthless people. They are mostly all traitors anyway so treat them that way.

How long before being a conservative, or even giving the appearance of being a conservative, is illegal in this country.

One absolute truth about liberals: They do NOT believe in Freedom Of Speech!

Republicans should continue to disrupt proceedings in the House until she dumps this rule change.

I would like to see so much disruption that the demoncrats get NOTHING DONE AT ALL.

Congratulations, America! Well done. You wanted it, WE got it.

If Pelosi gets her way, you'll never find out.

“This is frightening - I am getting very alarmed where our country (is it our country any more?) is heading.”

We’re toast.
This country is screaming headlong towards socialism. The elites think it’s a good thing, the sheeple are easily led. Many in business see it as a priority to “normalize” the American standard of living with China and India. That means, shrink the standard of living. It’s happening, but the cost is greater than they think. People who are losing their living standard will make choices at the voting booth that won’t favor business. (It won’t save their standard of living either).
The things that made America great are now seen as evil, or oddities.
Remember the Christian work ethic? Then it became the work ethic. Now, no one wants to work.
Studying, achieving, excelling? All seen as overkill today. Do the minimum, make some cash. It’s all about hustling. If you can make money, it doesn’t matter how, or who you screwed, you’re admired.
Americans are more than willing to give away freedoms to compell others to behave as they see fit. Anyone who rebels, or rails at the loss of freedom is seen as a troublemaker.
Even FR shows signs of wear. The free traitors have tired of stating their case in the face of the bad things that have come from “free trade”. So, they aren’t as visible. The Republicans have self destructed, and conservatives on this site are disheartened and demoralized. Most rally around one or two issues, but have no clear leader, or direction.
I don’t worry about it. I try to “tend my garden” and pray that I pass before this country no longer even resembles the place I grew up in.

We walked out at one time and that turned out to be a real mistake. There was one night when, in protest, we all walked down and paced our individual copies of the house rules and or copies on the rostrum in front of the speaker. We each told the speaker we did not need them as they were not followed. That got his attention and did not like the press he got for our actions. I think that would be far more effective in Congress than just refusing to vote.

My opinion has been that a republican won’t be able to buy a vote in ‘08 b/c of Iraq. I may have to rethink my position now...

Fine with me as long as the Republicans keep her rule when they are in control once again. She is digging her own grave. Who in the world is advising her, and how do they get out of kindergartden long enough to do it?
