Derek Jackson, a Bailey Middle School student, was slapped with an in-school suspension because of his "buzz cut."
An assistant principal pulled Derek Jackson aside, after she saw his extremely short haircut. Both Derek and his mother say school told them the haircut violates the school's dress code. A copy of that dress code talks about disruptive hair color and shapes, like a mohawk, that violate the policy, but it makes no mention of hair length.
Derek's mother thinks he was targeted because he is African-American.
Wait...correction. They could all be dudes.
It looks fine on white kids too. I have two nephews that adopted the ultra short look in HS. John went on to become a motorcycle cop and keeps his locks shorn to this day. Charlie went from HS to the USMC and discovered the downside of short hair. The DIs singled him out for special attention because he arrived with shaven head. They assumed he was being a smart-@$$ and he became their favorite "bad example" all through boot camp. I think the extra attention made him a better Marine (if there can be such a thing??) He's now in corrections (outside the wire!) and says the searchlights on the razor wire give him "a thousand points of light" that make him feel all warm and fuzzy.
My sister and BIL did a great job raising those boys, they are all slightly to the right of Genghis Kahn. Regards,
GtG
This is dumb. A fair percent of our military men have cuts like them and the liberals are trying to throw them out of....Oh. Wait a minute. There is a similarity there...
LOL! He looks like a nice kid.
Thats an outstanding hair cut there. Looks like a proper young man. Not some dread locked reefer smokin look or long haired metro sexual look which may adhere to the strict school dress code.
After my kids’ hair gets about 3/8 of an inch long, I cut it back even shorter than this kid’s hair. The assistant principle really puts the “ass” in assistant. Black kids have been wearing their hair this short forever.
“Derek Jackson, a Bailey Middle School student, was slapped with an in-school suspension because of his “buzz cut.””
What is the school going to do, keep him there until his hair grows back out? Idiots.
I stand by Derek and his Mom. I’m targeting him because he apears to be a fine young Man and as long as he wears his pants properly I’ll stand with him and his Mom.
The kid looks clean cut to me and the haircut neither disruptive nor racial. Nor does it appear to violate the code.
Congratulations to his parents, they are being proactive against head lice which is epidemic in public schools. And that’s what they should tell the school administrators.
This happened at my son's school. The kids couldn't wear shirts or caps with logos of certain teams because of the fear of gang affiliation....
You would think it would have been just Raider gear, but it wasn't.
The kids can't wear ball caps at all, unless it is raining, they can wear them from class to class. The ballcap must be plain, no logos unless it is the school logo. The sweatshirts must be plain, or with the school logo.
Look through the school's website.. that seems to be what they consider 'normal'.. at least that or a 1970s haircut look.. although I did see some white kids with buzz cuts.. seems the mom may have a nice case against the school..
Let me guess, Al-Sharif Al-Sharif, she married her daddy or her brother?
This assistant principal should take a look at the class pictures taken in the 1950s and 1960s in his school. My brother had a buzz cut and us girls had to have our hair short growing up.
The kid however, is clean-cut.
Oh, now I see what's going on...
No head coverings? Air head alert!
Sharif don't like it...
Rock Kamilya, rock Kamilya...
