When Move America Forward asked if they could use my son's picture for an ad, I was honored. The message on the poster and print ad is "Surrender Is Not an Option!" These would have been Derek's very words. Because of my son, I continue the fight. Will you please help? Speaker Pelosi is guilty of many things, but mainly abandoning our troops. She continues to say that "America has spoken." I'm not sure who she is listening to, but it is not my voice or the voice of my son's. I will join Move America Forward in San Francisco on Thursday morning, outside Nancy Pelosi's office so that she can hear my voice. Will you please join us? If you can't please pass this message on to supportive groups in that area. We need Patriot Guard, Veterans, good Rupublicans, and good Americans. We need people who want to continue to support our troops. Please join Melonie Morgan, Gold Star father, Joseph Williams, John Ubaldi and myself and let our voices be heard. We owe this much to our troops with boots on the ground and those that have made the ultimate sacrifice to this country! See time and place at MoveAmericaForward.com Thank you, Debbie Argel Bastian Proud mother of Capt. Derek Argel, USAF Combat Control Deployed to heaven, Memorial Day, 2005

Thank you. Everyone at FR knows that I can’t cut and paste. There is a poster of my son on their web page, with the information about Thursday. Thanks for posting! Deb

Unfortunately, your voice, mine and others here on the FReeper board are not the majority, it would seem. One fact of the matter is that the Congress switched over to the other party, last Congressional election (barely so, but did...).
And then, it's also very apparent that there are significant numbers of Americans who are now starting to say, "It's enough in Iraq; time to get out!" That's being heard, too. And so, "the handwriting is on the wall" and the pull-out is probably going to start by around the elections of 2008. There are going to be a number of Republicans who will join in on getting that date set up for the beginning of withdrawal in Iraq, because they'll want to trade that off for getting re-elected.
That's just the way it is. The only thing that could make a difference, and swing it back the other way, before the next election is if we had another major attack here, in the U.S. by the Islamic terrorists. I don't think people want to leave that option open as a way to keep troops in Iraq, but, short of that, the troops will be starting to pull out of Iraq by election time.

Looks like they are hitting Reid too.
Yes, we are hitting Reid too. I hope we have a good show there. I refuse to give up. If I go down, I’ll go down fighting. Deb
If we do not defeat the terrorists in Iraq, we will end up fighting them here in America.
Well, I would agree that we should stick it out in Iraq. However, I believe the "sticking it out" part is more like an entire decade of U.S. occupation in Iraq, in order to stabilize that society and knock out all the terrorism within that country.
However, having said that, and if we could even stick it out for another decade, which is questionable, the way it looks now -- there is the major point that Iraq is just one small "front" on the war we have against the religio-fanatical-governmental idealogy of Islam. Iraq is merely a "front" in the war. It's not the war itself.
Thus, I see that people really are not focused on the right thing. It's not simply Iraq, it's the entire world where that religio-fanatical-governmental idealogy of Islam is at.
For example, in Pakistan, right now, where they are supposed to be helping us, they are funding and sending the Taliban back over into Afghanistan to fight the Americans and the Afghanis. What's with that??!!
And then, there's Iran, who is sending their terrorists out everywhere to wreak havoc and destruction, plus getting a nuclear weapon so that they can create "chaos" in order to bring in the Mahdi (they say that if they create enough chaos in the world that this will bring in the Mahdi).
Furthermore, you've got Saudia Arabia funding these mosques and clerics all over the world, and even in the United States, teaching more of this religio-fanatical-governmental idealogy of Islam, which leads to more terrorists and more jihadists and more of the next generation being brought up in the mindset that the U.S. and the western powers must be brought down and their citizens must be killed wherever you can do it.
I mean, we could go on and on with this. There are some more countries involved in this. This is not an "Iraq thing" -- this is a World War against the religio-fanatical-governmental idealogy of Islam. And people better get used to the idea of a 100-years-war and not one of a few years in Iraq. This is a global war and it's going to take the rest of your life to fight it.
Get ready for send the next unborn generation into war to continue with the defeat of the religio-fanatical-governmental idealogy of Islam.

PING
It sounds like you’ve already surrendered. Fortunately, you are still in the minority.
Is that you, Nancy?
The day we pull out of Iraq, we cease to be a world power - not to mention we’ll be dealing with suicide bombers in Baltimore rather than in Baghdad.
If anyone wants on or off this ping list, say so by freepmail.
