The more I read the more I think the figures are probably more like 20-30 million here illegally. But like you say it’s impossible to substantiate since we don’t know how many illegal aliens have crossed the border just to do the jobs we don’t want to do.(BS)

So is the DNC still trying to spin it propaganda about the Kansas tornado and Iraq or have they given it up as yet another Dean engineered PR disaster? Interesting bit of data that came to light during Katerina that proves the Gov of Kansas is either totally incompetent or knowingly lying. According to the Adj General of the Illinois Nat Guard during an interview on, I think Hannity’s radio program, in Sept 2005, there exists an set of procedures under which a Gov who has NG troops on active duty can request NG troops from any of the other 50 states to step in to fill a need. The Gov also has the ability to appeal to the National Govt for immediate assistance from the US Military to response to an emergency.

The Gov of Kansas did NONE of those things. So either she is wholly incompetent to fill her self proclaimed role of “CIC Kansas National Guard” or she is knowingly lying about just why she dragged her feet in responding to the tornado damage.

So Sue and be damned DNC. You are caught in your own PR trap here. If you want to push this into the courts where you will only highly the hyper partisan hack behavior exhibited here or you demonstrate the Democrat Gov’s complete unfitness for her office. Either way it a Lose-Lose for the DNC

That is being disingenuous on McCain's part. Any politician who goes into a war zone is going to be added security. That is policy. Of course, McCain didn't have to ask for it. It was automatic -- because he is a Senator.

I heard her being interviewed and she mentioned that the other states had the same problem of the NG not having the equipment needed either. However, she never said that she “called” them. Yes, she is lying....she has her talking points.

Politicians don't want to reveal more current numbers. They rely on the ole 11 million because it is palpable, more easily swallowed, by the public.

Absolutely and then we have ridiculous things like a local school in Canterbury has a west Indian cricket coach and house-master in the boarding section.

Apparently he had a work permit to play the game years ago but after he retired it was extended temporarily and he decided he wanted to put back into the game and the county that gave him so much and got the above job.

The home office caught up with him and told him he needed to apply for extension/permanent residence etc. He applied but because he did not hold the minimum educational qualifications they consider he needs for the position he holds (though the private school were more than happy with his performance and he is popular amongst the boys, staff and their parents) they denied him permission to stay and he and his family (English wife and children born here) know faces deportation.

No doubt if he was unemployed and not benefiting the local community he would be granted permanent residency.

Makes your blood boil and I am sure you have many other examples of similar things in the US.
