Also, re the reduction of our armed forces, Clinton/Gore bragged about “reducing the size of the government by x %.” The reductions in manpower were virtually all military. I guess National Guard units became state funded entities, instead of federally funded.
I get a really bad feeling everytime I think of
what the Clinton years did to all of our defense institutions and agencies. The attrition of American patriots must have been huge. The Sensitivity Trained Liberal Elitist “America-is-an-oppressor-nation workers stayed on.
How about sailing hard to windward right through US Navy maneuvers in the Caribbean! We did that in 1976. We were sailing from Puerto Rico to Saint Croix and if we had fallen off to go south of the cruiser to our starboard, who was planning to do something with some barges and rafts to our port, we would not really have been able to make St Croix at all! We just had a 4hp engine, and we had just realized on that voyage that I was not having 2 days of seasickness, but was going to make my husband a father VERY unplannedly!
We had signal lights flashing us, (no radio on our little 33ft sloop) and even a helicopter buzz us, but we just kept the boat pointed as hard on the wind as she would go and made for the harbor! It was probably a good thing that she was a British registered yacht!
Adventures at sea, they are as good as it gets.
Speaking strictkly for our town the hospital system is struggling under the burden of so many non-paying customers and these costs have to be made up elsewhere -- in the guise of higher insurance premiums and for higher property taxes for the public safety personnel.
There is no free lunch, we may be getting cheap labor but we are paying for it in many other ways.
My husband, a Brit, said “they are warm and dry and drinking coffee, they can wait for us to get through here!” We must have been a beautiful sight, though. heeled way over, smashing through the seas, yellow foul weather gear getting soaked with spray, white hull and sails, and the brilliant Caribbean blue sky.
A sister of that boat is on my home page.
Absolutely. Happy Mothers Day to all FR moms!!!
And sea stories after the adventures are just memories!
Right you are especialy with live rafts out there like we have in the straits.
The situation is, Democrats are not individually grounded by character, morals or values. They govern by poll numbers and focus groups and they will change positions to maintain their power over the people.. Democrats voted for the war when it was popular, opposed it when the tide changed (which they created along with the MSM), and they will claim their positions were right whether we win or lose in Iraq. It's all about politics and power for them.
No matter what happens, Democrats will blame Bush and Republicans and try to use any issue as a reason to vote for them. They supported the surge and blamed President Bush for not following their insightful lead, and when the surge started they changed and opposed it saying it was too late. They voted overwhelmingly for Petraus and now work to make sure he fails.
It's all about power. It's a political philosophy supporting big government. The underlying issue is not Iraq, not racism, not immigration, not pride in America, not taxes, not healthcare, not fairness, and not freedom. None of these mean squat unles they are in power. Being in power means Democrats can make people dependent on them so they will continue voting for them every two years.
BUMP. Great summation of RAT political philosophy.
Thank you, you must have been thinking similar thoughts.
Well...Mr. FRUM, used to be a Bush speechwriter..and HAS to know better...but is still spewing mischaracterizations of Bushs idea, number 1....
and number 2, to actually call that a FAILING, is just so totally WHY the punditocracy is so out of touch with Americans.
Even my son and daughter, who are a tad more liberal than I am...were excited about the possibilty of a portion of their SS taxes to be handled by themselves...
Oh...well....with supposed conservative pundits like Frum....the GOP will never win...IMHO>
Even whores need to earn a living. Just as you can't really blame a snake or a skunk for being what they are, you can't really blame a whore for being what they are. Denouncing McChimpy Bushitler is the price to be paid for a "pundit in waiting" to get air time and a paycheck. You don't embrace the sinner but you can't really condemn them completely while you deplore the sin. Hold your condemnation for the diseased DBM that set up these rules. But remember, a body that stinks as much as their's does is already dead and the smell of decaying flesh that we smell whenever they are involved.
