Great post.

Of course you KNOW I would agree with that one part about the dorm room BS session...BECAUSE you got 2nd place from me this last week.

You and kabar (as well as others) had such a “spirited” and even intense debate going on several topics, each of which worthy OF debate...that you both deserved to be rewarded.

Congratulations to you both, and it is what makes this THE thread to read every week on FR.

I have lots of problems with Rudy on lots of issues, abortion and gun control being the biggest.

Agreed. However, having stated that, I think the years of nearly even division over fundamental issues that relate to some of the deepest aspects of our private lives and beliefs may have brought the American political system to a point where the two dominant parties cannot satisfy the ideological needs of many of our citizens. This is possibly the result of a public's desires- unchecked by reality- outgrowing any capacity for legislators etc. to provide solutions.

We may now be living in an era that closely resembles the mid-1800's. Perhaps the Dim and Pub parties can no longer contain the aspirations of their constituents; and so, IMHO, we are possibly witnessing the inevitable political breakups and subsequent reformulations that historically follow long periods of intense national frustration and disappointment.

I believe it quite possible that Rudy may very well be brought to the belief that he no longer belongs in the Pub party. If this is the case, we might well see a 2008 campaign that results in a POTUS being elected with less than forty percent of the votes cast. And, in that event, the winner could easily be a Pub, a Dim, or an Ind.

There must be something profoundly wrong at Langley

We happen to have a resident expert on personnel maneuvers at the higher levels of the Federal govt. and what makes them tick its kabar,he probably knows what promotions are about and not about I would guess.

Exactly at the higher levels of broadcasting if a sponsor does not think he can target a specific market he is not as likely to buy or much more important pay the bigger bucks for an adv. slot.

The ironic fact about Rudy is that the further away from a conservative platform he goes the more votes he picks up(just not from us) and the closer he gets to an all out conservative platform the more votes he picks up.

That already happened. In 1992. Ross Perot’s Reform Party got 19%. Clinton and the Dems got 43%, sames as they had under Dukakis, Mondale, and Carter in 1980.

You think Hillary is hoping lightening strikes twice?

Your premise is golden. The problem is we need to actually control illegal immigration from top to bottom. And I am not listening to any of the BS that comes from both sides about how out of control it is with so many already here, and how hard it will be to find them, we have done much tougher things in this country.

We can chose to control it tomorrow if we want to.

As long as pubbies are in control of the Federal budget it has a chance, better than 50/50. Does that mean pubbies do not have the potential to be giant big spenders as well,we learned otherwise.

What will kill the budget is if the demon rats gain total control of both houses and the White House. Than the economy is doomed.

Even under Bubba the congress still had a lot of say about the budget thats why things went well until the last two years.

We need to always remember the rats have stayed in office for years by simply buying votes. They will fund any constituency for anything as long as it buys more votes whether it be gays, blacks hispanics or welfare you name it they will buy it for the sake of votes.

They truly do not care a wit about the welfare of the country. We all know that.

Yes, it nearly did happen in '92. But my comment was less than forty percent. And that last happened in 1860 when Honest Abe took 39.8 % of the popular vote. And I'm sure we all remember what sort of political climate existed at that time!

I agree with you that Hillary would be just as delighted as her loving husband- loving whom I wonder- was for some third party help.
