ATLANTA --Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue has a message for critics of the war in Iraq: "Keep your mouth shut."
The Republican governor made the remark Friday during a talk-radio session at the state Capitol with Bill Bennett, former U.S. secretary of education.
On his "Morning in America" show, broadcast on Atlanta radio station WGKA, Bennett noted Perdue has been mentioned as vice-presidential material in 2008. He asked if Perdue agreed with some who say Republican candidates should distance themselves from President Bush on the topic of Iraq.
Perdue said no, then added: "We have everyone that wants to talk about what's gone wrong, but we have very few solutions coming out of this nation and Washington there. Until you got a better idea, keep your mouth shut."
“Until you got a better idea, keep your mouth shut.”
Always a good suggestion. So presumably Perdue would have no objection of this sort concerning Ron Paul, who DOES think he has a better idea.

Right on, Sonny!
Unfortunately, the Democrats' "better idea" is to surrender to the terrorists.
The Governor got quite a round of applause for that remark.
Too bad nobody from the WH has the balls to say this.Way to go Sonny. My Governor and proud of it.
“Wrong. Sonny said ‘Until you got a better idea, keep your mouth shut.’
“Ron Paul only thinks he has a better idea. Cut and run like little girl isn’t a better idea, and Ron Paul will be right there with Dennis Kucinich with the last place losers.”
I see, so you think that someone with a possibly better idea should wait until people read their minds, and validate it as better, before they open their mouths.
This is a novel notion of free and open discussion of public policy to determine the best course for future action. You may be right about Paul’s chances, but a polity which lives according to your strange notion is doomed.
BTW, this is a thread about Sonny Perdue, not Ron Paul.
“Democrats’ “better idea” is to surrender”......
Shoot they’re not just gonna surrender us...they’re going to make a swell profit while SELLING us out.....Billy Jeff taught them how to do that with the ChiComs.....
“BTW, this is a thread about Sonny Perdue, not Ron Paul.”
Yes, it is. So I will say it again, about both you and Sonny Perdue:
This is a novel notion of free and open discussion of public policy to determine the best course for future action. A polity which lives according to your strange notion, and his, is doomed, because it remains to be seen if the alternatives being discussed are “better” or not.
“Just shut up” is a policy for children, not adult members of a healthy polity.
I don't know about that. It's certainly no worse than some of the things the anti-war left says. I like a straight talker who comes right to the point and I happen to agree with Sonny.
I also happen to be firmly opposed to any sort of "better solution" that does not include completing this mission.
Surrender is not an option, IMO, regardless of what flowery reasons are given to support that notion.
“I don’t know about that. It’s certainly no worse than some of the things the anti-war left says.”
It is precisely the kind of nonsense that comes from the MoveOn.org and Kos crowds, and unworthy of a conservative.
The important part of the message was “if you have nothing productive to offer. If you are only going to exaggerate the negative. If you are going to twist good things for the purpose of portraying them as negative. Then please by all means, SHUT UP!!
It’s amazing how taking something out of context can make someone sound so bad. This headline is an example of that.
Making a mountain out of a molehill when there are much more pressing concerns at hand just seems to be a waste of energy.
if i was gov, it prob would have come out “stfu.”
Well, when you consider that the gist of what is coming from the left is that we've lost in Iraq, which is a lie, and then repeating this notion over and over, with the aid of the laimstream media, clearly gives aid and comfort to the enemy. On this basis it is just about like dealing with children. Constructive criticism is one thing, offering up a clear alternative plan for victory is another. However, lying about defeat and calling for surrender just to boost your personal political aspirations and the political aspirations of your political party, all the while helping the enemy, is treason.
I'm all for open discussions, provided that both sides are grounded in reality. This is reflective of the old addage of who's the bigger fool, the fool himself or the person who chooses to argue with a fool?
Since Iraq and the entire Middle East are indeed a strategic interests to the USA, surrender is not an option. Therefore, the left is not offering solutions grounded in reality and thus Governor Perdue is right on the money.
