I doubt if any of the ten candidates running are doing so for the office of vice president.

On Saturday night Thompson continues his speaking tour giving an address to the ultra conservative Council for National Policy in northern Virginia.
What’s the difference between conservative and ultra-conservative???

Whereas rudy, on the other hand, might be running the most effective campaign for empty-suit VP in history.
My lack of desire coincides with Fred's.
I predict Mr. Thompson will run as Rudy's VP candidate. You read this here on Free Republic first.

I’m a big fan of Fred.
But, you don’t get to play this game forever. EIther he’s in or he’s out. If he’s not hammering away at the next Republican Debate, he’s toast.
After a while of teasing, many people, including myself, begin to see this to be as silly as Ross Perot pulling out at the last minute due to “threats” but then jumping right back in.
The run for the white house is not something you should be iffy about, or that iffyness wil be used against you in a court of public opinion.
Get in Fred. Times a wastin. No one is going to guarantee you a victory, ya gotta work for it.
The more I read about Fred, the more I really like him. Fred’s got charisma, common sense, honesty, and the respect of all conservatives across the Republican spectrum.
The one thing that hurts Fred though is another admirable trait—loyalty. I really think if it weren’t for McCain, Fred would already be in this race. I think before July, these two are going to have a long talk, where Fred needs to tell McCain “look, you can’t win”. I doubt McCain’s ego will ever be able to come to terms with that, but if some miraculous event happens and he decides to get behind Fred, I think he can save some ounce of credibility he still has left. And maybe Fred will put him in as Defense Secretary where the GWOT is the only area McCain seems to be strong in anyway. Ahmajabbenjabber in Iran probably wouldn’t like that.
For VP, Fred should pick a southern Gov, like Riley or Huckabee.
