Howard Dean told Kansas Gov. Sebelius to Lie
Quinn & Rose Show ^ | 05/10/07 | Coffee260

Posted on 05/10/2007 11:53:51 AM PDT by coffee260

Dear Freepers,

Get a load of this:

I was listening to the Quinn & Rose show this morning on XM radio when Host, Jim Quinn told his audience that Howard Dean called Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius early, around 5 am, one morning after the tornado had destroyed the town of Greensburg, Kansas and discussed with her what to say about the tornado and how to blame the war in Iraq and the Bush administration on a slow response to the aftermath.

He also said that she, Gov. Sebelius, called Senator Sam Brownback's office only to learn he wasn't there but then called him on his cell phone and reached him while he was in his car were she confessed to him that she had been instructed by her party leadership, (more specifically, Howard Dean) on how to politicize the tornado's destruction of Greensburg and attack the White House and the Iraq war for a seemingly slow response. She reassured the Senator that her allegations didn't blame him or Pat Roberts, also a Kansas Senator, for the lack of immediate response.

That would explain her public statements to the press that proved later to be untrue. She made statements to the effect that the Iraq war and the deployment of the national guard units to Iraq from her state has left Kansas without the equipment and man power needed to respond more quickly to the tornado's aftermath. This all turns out to be false and the governor herself has back tracked on her own claims.

Mr. Quinn also revealed that she confessed to Brownback that she couldn't pass up such an opportunity like this to attack the President whose approval ratings, in this hostile political climate, is so low.

These revelations are startling and if true should call into question the governors competence and her judgment. Quinn adamantly stressed that his source, who he didn't name because he was sure it would jeopardize his job, was extremely reliable and in a position that would give him direct knowledge of these revelations.

” NOTICE - that none of the MALE Governors hit by Katrina or other storms have been crying about lack of support from the FEDS “

My KS friends tell me that Missouri Gov Blount (R ) has behaved very professionally , like a leader- regarding his flooding situation-night and day compared to Sebelius.
Called in MOARNG without whining and crying.
Explained to the media the tactical situation and how the state planned to resolve it.
He did not mention of the War in Iraq or undercut and attempt to demoralize his Guard units.
I don’t believe he has gotten any media attention..hmmmm.

Sean Hannity is jumping all over this. He said that if it proves to be true, the Governor and Howard Dean, both need to resign their positions immediately.

Get out the popcorn. This could be good.

SHe doesn’t have to worry about any re-election. She is term limited and on her last term.

But she had some concerns about keeping in Howard Dean’s good graces — like maybe running as a senator from Kansas?

Either way, by ‘fessing up and fingering Dean, I doubt if the national organization is going to look her way for much in the future.

The source said the guber said, “It was too good of an opportunity to allow this to pass. I was ordered, as all dims have been, to make it about blaming Bush and the War in Iraq.” Blame Bush for the slow response.

Now her press conference Sunday really doesn’t make sense. The first thing she did was to congradulate President Bush for signing the disaster declaration within 24 hours of the tornado which means she can get federal assistance.

Then she turns right around and blames Bush for her lack of Guard equipment and help.

If she has already asked for federal assistance then why does she need the Kansas National Guard when she has the Feds and her own Kansas Dept of Transportation to assit?

Two reasons she would have towed the pre-meditated line besides being a dim herself,. 1. Gaining the Senator seat from Brownback when he doesnt run for re-election, 2. Being the top of the list for being the running mate of whomever is dim candidate for president. She needs the DNC for funding as Kansas has not elected a Democrat as a Senator since 1932 and generally goes straight ticket Republican for national politics. Almost certainly she will be outfunded by any Republican she runs against.

Unless Kansas uses 155mm Artillery for Tornado Debris Removal that I’ve never heard about, (COOL!! But impracticle) the Kansas guard has PLENTY of assets available.

The 184th Civil Engineering Squadron did recently return from a Deployment (TO ARIZONA!)

So what could possibly have been her motive for lying?

I mean — Howard Dean is not that compelling. But getting a call at 5 a.m. sounds like a typical distress call. Maybe she’s deluding herself into thinking that she would be the first woman senator since the 1930s.

I just hope she was real proud of herself when she was standing next to President Bush when he was being the Comforter-in-Chief, as one freeper describes him.

Wonder who put her feet to the fire and uncovered the lie.

Of course the story is bogus.

I don't think anyone's considering that it could be a bogus plant to take the heat off Sebelius' obvious lies. The tip could be from someone in her office, not Brownback's, aiming to get the Republicans to spin the conversation big time, only to have Brownback eventually say it never happened.

Same thing happened in N.O.
But I’ll bet it was Hillary doing the calling then, instructing Blanco not to cooperate w the Feds, so they could later blame them.
