While the media continues to blame the big oil companies for gouging U.S. motorists as they collect record breaking profits, the windfall profits raked in by the government in the form of energy tax revenue actually dwarf the oil companies’ jackpot.

Well it took ‘em long enough. Those donkies are really slipping lately. They would have jumped on this a lot sooner a year ago. I had no idea tha surrender took so much time.

Yes, how dare they do preventive maintenance when they switch from making Home Heating to to Unleaded Gas. Why can’t they do it in the middle of production?

Isn’t it about 50 cents per gallon that the oil companies make? Where does that other $2.50 go, Harry?

The U.S. Senate's top Democrat on Tuesday accused big oil companies of shutting down refineries temporarily to raise gasoline prices and rake in"obscene profits." Once again demonstrating that they're economic illiterates. Unfortunately, so are too many Americans.

Big Oil watched Al Gore’s movie and became alarmed about Global Warming so they raised the prices on gas so people would drive less. :)

Isn't it interesting every year about this time, a refinery goes down for repairs," said Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid They have to drain the pipes and tanks to get ready for the summer blend you politicians mandate at frequent intervals. It isn't just one refinery. It's all of them.

The nitwit Nancy Pelosi and her fellow Democrats have refused to allow domestic oil drilling and they're outraged at $3.00 a gallon gas prices? Why, its the supply and demand, stupid!

Hey, if you they want it, they don’t have to buy it. I may complain all the way to the pump, but I’m there nonetheless. It’s the way it works. Maybe they could carpool instead of taking their limos and huge SUVs.

There is yearly routine maintenance shut down for refineries in the months of April or May depending on the refinery and that has been happening for decades. In fact portions of the refineries shut down and others remain up running. There is never a total shut down of any refinery when they are doing their yearly maintenance. However idiot Reid wants to lie and say that the big oil shut down their refineries.

can we dare hope that the republicans on these committees will bring in the environmentalist and greenies and bring the facts that really impact the shortage or cost; the EPA regs, zoning laws, impact statement, not in my backyard, refusal to explore or drill because it spoils the view, requirement numerous different types of mixes for different cities, counties, and states. can we dare hope. take an economics class you bozo's....... Yes, and that class would teach them that the big oil companies, like other companies, will do anything in there power to increase their profits. If they can gouge the consumers and make greater profits by doing so, they will. If they can make greater profits by manipulating the supply, they will. If they can increase their profits by "cooperating" with other companies in setting prices, they will. This is capitalism, pure and simple. Don't expect companies that are making huge, record profits to change the activities that got them there.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday announced seven congressional hearings in coming weeks on soaring energy prices and plans to put together a proposed package of energy bills by July 4 to address the issue.
“With Memorial Day travel and the start of summer driving only a few weeks away, drivers are paying a heavy price for the Bush administration’s failure to enact a comprehensive energy strategy,” said Pelosi.
Meanwhile, our food supply is in jeopardy-—but who cares—got to get that gas price down for Memorial Day weekend.

"With Memorial Day travel and the start of summer driving only a few weeks away, drivers are paying a heavy price for the Bush administration's failure to enact a comprehensive energy strategy," said Pelosi. It was called drilling! It was also called building new refineries. Each one you shot down promising a better more efficiant energy strategy. That was 7 years ago Democraps! This crisis is of your making!

The Al-dimocRATS should be happy. Algore in his book a number of years ago wanted $5.00 gallon gasoline. I have personally met libs who wanted high prices for gasoline. They should be happy.
