SHANGHAI: A second industrial chemical that regulators have found in contaminated pet food in the United States may also have been intentionally added to animal feed by producers seeking larger profits, according to interviews with chemical industry officials here. Three Chinese chemical makers said that animal feed producers often purchase, or seek to purchase, the chemical, cyanuric acid, from their factories to blend into animal feed. The chemical producers said it was common knowledge that for years cyanuric acid had been used in animal and fish feed. In the United States, cyanuric acid is often used as a disinfectant for swimming pools. Two of the chemical makers said feed producers used it because it was high in nitrogen, enabling feed producers to lift the protein reading of the feed artificially. "Cyanuric acid scrap can be added to animal feed," says Yu Luwei, general manager of Juancheng Ouya Chemical Company in Shandong Province. "I sell it to fish meal manufacturers and fish farmers. It can also be added to feed for other animals." The disclosure is noteworthy not just because it is another indication that Chinese animal feed producers were intentionally doctoring the ingredients they sold, but because the practice of using cyanuric acid may provide clues as to why the pet food in the United States became so poisonous.

How can anyone with an ounce of humanity ‘laugh’ at a threat to our ‘childrens’/ pets food supply or our own?

I don't remember seeing Purina or Pedigree on the recall lists. Has this changed recently?
Perhaps owned by the same corporation, but not Purina branded.
There were a couple of dog foods recalled - a Mighty Dog variety of cuts & gravy and one other I think. You’d have to check Purina’s website.
I read the recall is over 500 products...I can not find that many and you have to search many lists to get over 150.
Just keep following the leads and sign up for notices from the companies.
It’s become obvious the new and improved ‘free trade’ can’t be practiced without corruption and dishonesty and more often than not illegal slave labor.
It’s disgusting and immoral.

Actually, that's not quite right. CA is a stabilizer for chlorine in that it blends into the water to reduce the chlorine's evaporative effect and makes the sanitizer last longer.
Too little CA and as water temps rise, the amount of chlorine sanitizer required increases. Too much CA and one can "lock out" the sanitizer from performing its disinfecting properties.

That sounds like the type of food industry the Libertarians would run.
I won’t be at all surprised when we find out that melamine and cyanuric acid aren’t the only “additives” the Chinese are putting into food.
you read about the antifreeze component in cough syrup right? I also have read about chalk in flour (or something like that) to stretch the product, fake milk powder that killed growing children, lead in baby bibs etc...

Which by the way Costco said it wasn’t recalling their food made by American Nutrition, Inc....this was April 2nd, son’s dog died April 5, he got the letter from American Nutrition on May 5,who makes costco food, saying they were going to recall it after all.
One month after his dog died, he gets the letter.
HOW LONG DOES A RECALL TAKE?
Where I live we have poisonous lizards. I've had a number of cats die after eating them.
