The President and the First lady spent the weekend in Washington.
On Saturday the President went for a bike ride and encouraged fellow Americans to exercise.
On Sunday he talked about the weekend's devastating storms after attending services at Saint John's Church with the First Lady.
Today he welcomed Queen Elizabeth II to the White House during which they inspected the troops and afterwards the Queen and President Bush went on of her customodary walkabouts and met with local school children and students outside the White House.
This evening the President held a State Dinner at the White House in the Queen's honour. As I am posting there is no photos or guest list on the White House website if this is posted shortly I will will post this on the dose.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
Here Cheney with Nancy,,,
That is a fabulous photo. Breathtaking!
My only disappointment with tonight is no Tony & Jill photos! I will have to look around the Internet tomorrow--I want to see them! :)
Thanks again, Snugs. Hope your day goes well tomorrow. Wish your dad a happy birthday from his American friends! :)
By the way...what does dmd stand for?
They are my initials. Very original screen name , I know! :)
There have got to be photos of Tony & Jill from tonight out there somewhere--I will let you know what I find! I have to get to bed myself. Good night!
I Miss her, too. :(
For you, Sweet (((((Nan)))))
I am the only one who thinks the Queen's dress was decidedly blah?
Her daytime outfits during this visit have been stylish, but tonight's gown.....
And yes it was a very "good night".
Good night!
Dang! Nancy even wears her Pop Beads to State Dinners! How low class can you get? ;o)
Oh my goodness those chandelier earrings are just gorgeous. It must be hard to wear them though, they have to be pretty heavy!

I’ve admired Queen Elizabeth for many years, since I learned about the Royal Family’s actions during World War II. During the bombing of London, the Royal Family stayed in the city, in order to boost the morale of the other residents of the city. I believe I read that Elizabeth was a member of the military, and actually drove Jeeps, or the British equivalent of them, around London, and maybe even beyond the city, during the war. That was a very admirable thing to do, and I’d think that’s why the Queen Mother and Queen Elizabeth have always been so admired by the people of England, even as folks decry the behavior of the subsequent generation of Royals.
Thanks, snugs! Such beautiful pictures! The color of Laura's dress is stunning. I just watched the film "The Queen" last night and tonight. Very interesting. I was sympathetic to the Queen.
Wish a video of this whole day was on line somewhere. I heard a bit of the fife and drum corps playing but I didn't know they were actually dressed in colonial period outfits. Neat.
Mrs. Reagan looked like my mother when she came in to the grand foyer.
Maybe all frail, elderly ladies who dye their hair look alike. God bless ‘em!
Four square for the Atlantic Alliance, the bedrock of Britain's survival in WWII and the Cold War, and now essential in facing terrorism, based on her lifelong experience.
It's heartening to see Her Majesty standing up to support this strategic relationship. Reminds me of the day after 9/11 when she sang our National Anthem.
That may be my memory failing. She maybe only stood up when it was played or something. Whatever, I have been a diehard fan of hers and most grateful ever since.
I just looked at Wikipedia to check my memory. Telstar went up in July 1962 and is still in orbit. It is interesting to realize that things we take so for granted, like instant worldwide communication, and to realize that it did not always exist.
For instance, now people moan about $3.00 gas, but forget about $5.00 a minute transatlantic telephone calls.
Your memory is good. I do remember seeing her standing up and singing our National Anthem after 9-11.
Sorry for getting back so late .. I think I like this one

How are you doing Patty? I know you were a good friend to Kat..
I have been thinking about you
