And having a Commander In Chief during this same period of time in history has been a divine intervention as well. Could anyone imagine how much lower our military would have been gutted under either Gore or Kerry? Clinton slashed it from 900,000 to 400,000 in 8 years! Please remember this next year as well - choose wisely the candidate that will honor our military men and women - I’m quite certain THEY’VE EARNED IT!

My son is in the army, in Afghanistan and he says whether or not he re-enlists will depend who is CinC. I’m sure many of our wonderful troops feel the same! That question would be a great question for the republicans to ask the American people...
“Could you REALLY trust HER as Commander in Chief????”
Yikes!!!

Bush’s approval rating has been below 50 nearly his entire second term. I only wish the morons who believe the Left’s propaganda against him could think things thru once in awhile.

Agreed.
It also does a great job of characterizing the ‘Rats.

(Everyone wants a simple answer; but sometimes there isn't a simple answer)
This is a great essay! I'd love to post my favorite passages from it, but I found
too many good passages to quote.
One note
Truman's administration made a calamitous mistake when they abandoned the newly freed South Korea in 1949.
They pulled out almost all our troops, even though Republicans and folks in the military warned them that the removal of our troops would invite invasion.
Then Kim's North Korean army did invade, in 1950, and swiftly took over almost all of South Korea.
To Truman's credit, he sent troops to RE-WIN freedom for millions of South Koreans. However 30,000 Americans died in Korea in the last 30 months of Truman's presidency, and his administration felt it necessay to ramp up the draft and impose the severest wartime censorship
If the Democrats hadn't abandoned South Korea in the first place, thousands of American and Korean lives might have been saved.
Our experience in Korea should be a lesson to the Democrats...
- Do not prematurely abandon countries you have freed
- Do not think troops can easily be redeployed from another country (even when the two countries are close, like Japan and Korea)
Since Democrats prefer their heavily edited version of history, they will find it nearly impossible to learn from this mistake.

I think some of GW's verbal problems come from his being a visual thinker, who's able to see the big picture from many angles. He can speak clearly among friends and when he feels strong emotion because he knows his listeners understand his viewpoint.
I'm tired of defending Bush to my ultra-liberal family members, especially because I am not as glib as they are.
So...I have a framed 5x8 glossy of George and Laura hanging on my entryway wall and I've taped a 12-month calendar, which has huge images of them, on my refrigerator.
I don't need to say a word about my feelings.

Great post, thank you for reminding me of something I should have remembered. With Truman, it was exactly as you say. This should be sent to every newspaper in the country.

I think we don't hear much about the Korean War because the Democrats don't want us to remember the mess they caused through their shortsightedness.
The last time I was taught anything about the Korean War was in 8th Grade, where I learned the result was a "draw." Then, through the years, I heard there was a confrontation between Truman and MacArthur. I've only recently begun to learn some of the details about the Korean War, from books, from the web, and, most of all, from fellow Freepers.
I've begun to suspect that schools teach little about the Korean War because that particular conflict may not have been necessary, if Truman's administration hadn't abandoned South Korea prematurely. And now the Democrats want us to repeat the mistake of prematurely abandoning a country we freed.
Dems can say what they want about Bush, but the fact is -- 10 times as many Americans died under Truman in 2 1/2 years, as died under Bush in 2 1/2 years.
