Absolutely “Civil War” is nothing more than a rat talking point that has lasted way too long.

The WH should follow the Fred Thompson strategy and avoid radio, TV and print media designed to put the administration in a bad light. Fred has generated plenty of ink from his appearances in friendly venues including blogs.

Breitbart TV is now up ..a new force. They’ll be competing with Politico and youtube politically, for sure.

If you didn’t see it, they have a great video with Fred after the Pubbie debates and before his Orange County speech. Fred is really really taking the pulse of the country .. he’s everywhere! But, he’s so off the cuff: real.

I LOVE this: “I’m not interested in being the tallest midget in the room, frankly.”

Chris Dodd is an idiot, just lie after lie after lie, and unfortunately Chris Wallace is not countering him, although he did try. Dodd keeps saying that AQ is NOT in Iraq and we need to redeploy to Afghanistan where the real threat is.

How can Dodd say that?

Last weeks reports of Al Qaeda in Iraq;

Two Al Qaeda Leaders, Three Terrorists Killed; 39 Detained in Iraq

Al-Qaeda plan to destroy girls’ school in Tarmiyah thwarted

Steady Progress Continues Despite Challenges in Iraq, General Says

Coalition’s ‘Operation Rat Trap’ Targets al Qaeda in Iraq

Coalition, Iraqi Forces Detain 39 Suspects, Discover Weapons Caches

Bush: Al Qaeda Cannot Gain Safe Haven in Iraq

Iraqi, Coalition forces gain support

Coalition Forces Kill Seven, Nab 21; Car Bomb, Weapons Destroyed

Update: Terror Chief 'Killed In Internal Battle' (Al Qaeda Leader In Iraq 'Killed')

Nearly 100 Detained in Iraq; Weapons Caches Found, Destroyed (WOO-HOO!!!! ROUND 'EM UP BOYS!!)

Thank you!

You did a much better job of getting my point across than I did :)

I would prefer our own government to take a three month summer vacation. Their absence would be in the best interests of the country. Their presence all year round is not doing anyone any favors.

I really wonder just how many subscriptions are paid for by the local, state and federal governments. Does anyone know how to find out?

Yeah. All publications that sell advertising are audited by a group called the Audit Bureau of Circulation.

By the way, The Post and all other publications make money from advertising, not circulation.

I thought the most obnoxious question was “What is the worst thing about America”? I wish ONE politician had the courage to say “The US News Media and the criminally inept, drama queen, deliberately misleading, juvenile way it conducts itself day after day after day”.

That was a great piece, although I just got the audio. I really really like Fred Thompson. I could listen to him all day long. His easy, no nonsense style is very reassuring to me.
I agree it would be better to tell the msm to get lost and go a different route. “Fair and balanced” is a joke since it’s all about truth verses lies.
I just want the truth, please!

I don’t disagree with you that it should be this way. But, I can conceive of a Clinton White House not doing it that way. I have yet to hear from credible sources that President Clinton was that involved in leadership. Politics, yes, but actual leadership, no.

That’s true, but they still sell subscriptions. They don’t give all those copies away out of the goodness of their heart.

Wasn't that just awful. I keep reminding myself that this fool was the head of the CIA, fgs. No wonder we're in so much trouble.

Breitbart TV’s front page is full of links to other videos and podcasts.

http://www.breitbart.tv/index.php

If you like Dennis Miller, his radio shows are archived and streaming ... in full. He’s already on 100 stations .. good show, Dennis!

This is the May 4th show, with Tony Blankley, Alice Cooper, Ron Reagan (UGH!) and actor Bruce Dern.

Most people I talk to simply don’t care right now or are seriously irritated by the whole hype starting this far out.

I couldn't agree more.

But this is like the old gasoline wars. If the competitor across the street (fellow politician) drops his price by 10% (decides to announce almost two years before the election) what are you going to do? If you don't follow his lead (announce way early also) he's gonna eat your lunch (snap up all the best "consultants" and big money donors). So, even though you may not want to, you're forced into at least matching his price.

Every day that Fred Thompson delays his announcement is a blessing in disguise. He's already on the record as saying he's not interested in "big name" consultants. Given his excellent name recognition and ability to connect with his audience I'd say that's brilliant.

Here's three interesting questions:
1. Who was the first politician, from either party, to announce the formation of an exploratory committee?
2. When (date) did this happen?
3. Got a link?

I’ll skip watching fat dim.

I made this decision weeks ago. Perhaps the rare visit with a solid Conservative might change my mind about tuning into Mr. Russert Potato Head's show. Sundays, for me, are now limited to the the Fox News Sunday panel and an occasional peek at the Wallace interview that precedes it. Of course, it's always worthwhile to checkout the great comments here on the Sunday Morning Talk Show thread.

And Newsweak has a long history of manipulating their polls to drive their headlines. In Sept 2004, after the Republican Convention the mythical “Bush surge” was wholly the product of a manufactured “Newsweak” poll that simply polled 7% MORE Republicans then Democrats. Then after the 1st debate in Oct when they needed to change the store and report Bush tanking, they simply reversed the ratio of R vrs D. News media polls are junk. I think Real Clear Politics has the right idea. The way to analyze polling is to collect as many numbers as possible and average them. They are simply far too many ways for a pollster to game the data to trust any single poll as being an accurate snap shot of public opinion

The 28% number is really not believable. That would mean that even you and I don’t like GW. That number is so cooked it would make Enron proud.
