Not to mention the production and use of insecticides and herbicides that are banned in the US being produced and used on the very crops imported to the US. Why? Because they are effective and cheap to produce.
And the gubberment has our best interests at heart, don't they?
Less than 1/1000th of a percent of all food products imported to the US are screamend for harmful bacterias and chemicals.
Do something fun....try and find the cumulative data from the FDA of all imported rejects that are tested on a quarterly basis. (i.e. tons rejected vs. tons accepted vs. tons sampled vs. country of origin. Want to talk about the government hiding stuff?

Food is bad......As a manufacturer of hosiery in the US we were monitored by the EPA, etc., for uses of illegal chemicals. Well, the Chinese use benzene and formaldehyde in their dying processes and everyone knows it; including all major retailers and importers. Ever wonder why imported products have more vibrant colors and hold their colors longer? Chemicals outlawed in the US.

If one of your workers died from benzene or formaldehyde poisoning, they would shut down your business, call in a hazmat team, arrest you and the legal battles and lawsuits would go on for years, long after you were bankrupt and/or in prison.
In China, if a worker dies, they just get another worker. See what an efficient and cost-effective system they have?

Someone on another related thread said that he and his wife were in the export business (IIRC) and that the US sends all its primo stuff overseas.
Which makes you sick when you think that then the government is paying farmers here not go grow crops and then businesses are importing substandard contaminated cr@p from some third world hellhole to feed us with.
What’s the matter? The we aren’t good enough to get the good stuff we grow ourselves?
makes blood boil

Augh, gross!
I am attempting to avoid packaged foods, visiting Farmers Markets, and asking questions about the meat and produce at the local grocery stores. They’re pretty helpful these days. What’s also helping is that a lot more people are asking about getting local foods as opposed to those coming from out of country, and the butchers at the stores are becoming familiar with their suppliers and how they feed their stock.
If the numbnuts in the govt won’t help us because they’re all deep in the ChiCom pockets, work it on the local scene. Good luck to us all.
