Thanks for posting that... yes, I think it explains a whole lot, and cats of all animals have the most sensitive kidneys, this is why people cannot let their cats fast like we can do with dogs — and, we know that the Chinese don’t have problems in reducing their population by whatever means possible... why would they care about us?

Anderson Cooper is a huge animal lover, I think I’ll start paying more attention to his program and see what else he digs up on this.

The Egg and I is the funniest book I have ever read!!!!!

If the poultry farms got the feed in Feb, those chickens are already consummed. It takes 42 days to grow out a chicken and it is mostly consumed fresh.

I did not hear of any chickens dying. They are putting up new chicken houses around here like crazy. This is an organic egg company. The layer houses are 550 feet long.

Speaking of cyanuric acid manufactured in the land of the toxic dump:

Shandong Xingda Chemicals Co.,Ltd

A "tasteless" white powder. Yum.

This is interesting: On April 10, Ontario-based Medi-Cal, makers of Royal Canin pet food, recalled one product due to "contaminated wheat gluten."

On April 20, Medi-Cal, makers of Royal Canin pet food, recalled several more of their products with the following statement:

Royal Canin  has discovered a new contaminant in rice gluten. This contaminant is cyanuric acid, which is chemically related to, but distinct from, melamine. Consequently, we are recalling all date codes of these dry products.

Royal Canin found cyanuric acid -- specifically -- in rice gluten.

Yep.....I read about it on Pet Connection at the time, but it didn’t seem to resonate with a lot of people and the media certainly didn’t seem willing to go there.

Tasteless to us maybe, but a lot of people have reported their cats in particular as well as a lot of dogs suddenly stopped wanting to eat their food.

So what do we have here, I wonder?

Two separate grain products contaminated with two separate toxins?

A mixture of both toxins in some products?

US manufacturers using both contaminated products in the same pet food formulas? (No wonder they raided Menu Foods' offices.)

The Chinese dumping any toxic scrap they can find into their grain products in general?

Yep.....I read about it on Pet Connection at the time, but it didn’t seem to resonate with a lot of people and the media certainly didn’t seem willing to go there.

Royal Canin is located in Guelph, Ontario, and scientists at Guelph University were the first, last week, to mix cyanuric acid with melamine in the lab, and successfully duplicate the same crystals found in the dead animals' urine.

The media reports made it seem as if Guelph U just came up with that idea -- using cyanuric acid -- out of the blue. Now it makes sense; they were trying, probably at Royal Canin's request, to figure out the possible connection of cyanuric acid with melamine in the deaths, since RC was affected by both.

Yes, and then the pet food manufacturers took the kibble that was imperfect (manufacturing process broken crumbled, etc.) and shipped it off to hog and chicken farmers.. and, no one has mentioned this, but a lot of fish farms use kibble to feed fish (which is why the omega 3 count in fish is so low unless you buy ocean or lake fish)... and what about cattle? Feed lot cattle?

Yes, and to Royal Canin’s credit, they used cat urine instead of living cats as their test subjects.

In today’s FDA press conference they talked about the 2.5 - 3 million chicken that were fed feed from China that was tainted with melamime (and possibly other substances) back in February.

The chickens were processed (killed) and distributed (sold to you).
But they will not tell us the names of the companies that sold these chickens.

Chicago Tribune: You say it’s too late to do a recall, but why not name the companies and let the consumers decide?

IF that article is true:

Avian Flu H5N1 is the first wave, I suspect.

However, given typical communist efficiency, it leaked out of the lab prematurely and took out a lot of Chinese first.

NO cheers, unfortunately.

Very funny! Those run-on sentences will get you everytime.

I cooked one huge batch and froze it in pans. I cut the servings and bagged them to make it easy to microwave one at a time. I wish I had some of the old ice cube trays to make the servings. It just was not firm enough to use a scoop and freeze on cookie trays.

Raw did not seem an good option for me either.

The dishes may contain lead? Do you have a link or something for that info? Thanks.

It was on one of the other food threads a week ago... they also gave a link on how to order a test kit (to tell)...I didn't save it (the link) it took my attention because there is a really cute set of dishes at Walmart I had my eye on.... now, I'm not so certain... I want to do more research first myself.

I did find this article from yesterday:

What You Should Know About Lead in China Dishes

Unknown if this has been posted but I no longer care.
Please be SAFE.
“Menu Foods is now expanding the recall to include cuts and gravy and select other products which do not include ChemNutra wheat gluten but which were manufactured at any of Menu Foods’ plants during the period that ChemNutra wheat gluten was used at that plant, to the extent they have not already been subject to a recall, due to the possibility of cross-contamination. “

CROSS CONTAMINATION...D*mn sons of b*tches!
We need all names of all companies doing business with all of these importers, manufacturers, distributors, etc. NOW. If they won’t recall all of this cr*p, tell us who is making or selling it so we can make our own decisions.

They are located in an area between Phoenix and Flagstaff that is higher elevation, probably able to grow a lot of their own food for the resturant up there.
