Rep. John P. Murtha (D-Pa.) said Sunday that Democrats in Congress could consider impeachment as a way to pressure President Bush on his handling of the war in Iraq.
What Im saying, theres four ways to influence a president. And one of thems impeachment, Murtha, chairman of the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, said on CBS Face the Nation.
Murtha has been one of the most outspoken members of Congress on the administration's handling of the war in Iraq; others who have strongly criticized Bush have stopped short of calling for impeachment.
Murtha also expressed doubt that Congress and the Bush administration would be able to work out a compromise soon in negotiations on the $124 billion war spending bill. Congress' emergency funding measure contains a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. combat troops from Iraq.
They say were willing to compromise, and then we dont get any compromise, said Murtha. Weve already compromised. And we need to make this president understand, Mr. President, the public has spoken.
Murtha said the Democratic-controlled Congress will pass another war funding bill with similar benchmarks for progress in Iraq after President Bush vetoes the legislation, as he has vowed to do.
If he vetoes this bill, hes cut off the money. But obviously, were going to pass another bill, Murtha said. Its going to have some stringent requirements. ... I'd like to look at this again in two months.

Jail them. Take a page from Lincoln’s book.
Impeachment is not a tool to pressure the president, it is a punishment for criminal activity...the sort of criminal activity John Murtha has been involved in for years.
Yeah - how about a pissing contest - Dems threaten impeachment, Bush could then begin arrests on charges of treason.
Let us see who comes out of that one victorious.
They need to quit flapping their meaty gums and do it or STFU.
Lets Impeach Congress !
rotten bunch of weasels....
get a rope!
get a rope!
Murtha, Pelosi and Reid have tried everything else, so why not impeachment,
makes for a good ‘dog and pony show’ for their supporters.
YEA BABY...PERFECT...I LIKE IT
I heard GHW Bush state that Senator Inouye threatened him with impeachment if the first Gulf War didn’t go well.
Murtha, Pelosi and Reid have tried everything else, so why not impeachment
Impeachment cannot be done unilaterally. They’re waiting for Syrian approval

They are awaiting word from George Soros.... and Ahndinajead...
Payback for Clinton’s impeachment....and the 2000 election. The moonbats will never forgive George Bush for winning that election.

Take all the rope in texas
Find a tall oak tree, round up all of them bad boys
Hang them high in the street for all the people to see that
This, from the people who thought Clinton should stay in office.
You need two thirds in the Senate, or it’s just an excuse for John Roberts to wear a fancy robe.
The Democrats are truly insane. Next they will impeach the 5 Justices who upheld the PBA ban. What Shadow President Pelosi really wants to do is stage a coup, but she knows Hillary would overthrow her a few minutes afterwards.
Talk, talk, talk, reminds me of braggerts telling how they faced the bully after he left. CUT THE FUNDING Murtha, if you really have brass ones!
