Ex-Senator Injured in Chicago Mugging

CHICAGO (AP) - Former U.S. senator and presidential candidate Carol Moseley Braun suffered a broken wrist when a mugger tried to steal her purse, authorities said Saturday.

Braun, 59, was standing at her front door late Friday when an assailant came out of the bushes and tried to take her purse, said her spokesman, Kevin Lampe. When Braun resisted, the man pulled a knife and cut the strap of the purse.

During the struggle, Braun fell, fracturing her left wrist. She was later treated and a released from a hospital.

A student from the nearby University of Chicago came to her aid, Lampe said.

Zachary Trayes-Gibson said he had been walking with a friend when he heard screams.

Considering the corruption she's been involved in, the contents of her purse probably belong to the taxpayers. The thief should still be caught and prosecuted, but this is just a case of a thief stealing from another thief. Moseley-Braun's thievery, however, is legitimized behind the mask of the legislature.

I wish Carol Moseley-Braun a speedy recovery as well. At least she was a genuine liberal running as a lieberal unlike her eventual replacement Osama Obama who is a fake black man running as a moderate.

I lived in Hyde Park, the nicest neighborhood on the South Side, as well as Uptown, the worst/poorest neighborhood on the North Side. Despite the fact that the former neighborhood had more wealth, the latter was safer. Why? Well it was explained to me that the CPD practices "containment" of crime to certain sections of the city, and since Hyde Park is surrounded on three sides by pure urban hell, it is in the "no go" zone of Chicago.

The University organized its own police force years ago in response to this hard truth, but they can't do much. Nor can a law abiding citizen in Chicago even OWN a handgun, let alone carry one.

And has a long and tediouos life, and is reminded daily of being 'lobbied' by one of her hard working constituents.
