Guiliani Fires Back at Dean's Criticism of Family Life

NEW YORK, New York (1010 WINS) -- Rudy Giuliani ripped into the head of the Democratic Party yesterday for getting personal by suggesting Giuliani's family life poses a "serious problem."

The shot earlier this week by Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean marks the first time Dems have openly targeted Giuliani's messy past.

During a CNN interview, Dean said the GOP presidential front-runner "has a lot of character issues that he has to answer for."

"We've begun to reach out to evangelical Christians, and that's a real problem for him," Dean told CNN. "His personal life is a serious problem for him."

Dean refused to say what he was referring to, although the former mayor's marriage to his third wife, Judith Nathan, in 2003 followed a bitter, public breakup with wife No. 2, Donna Hanover.

Giuliani's team fired back hard yesterday in a Daily News article, calling Dean's verbal grenade a desperate ploy to divert attention away from the Democrats' wavering on Iraq, a theme Giuliani has clearly decided is working for him.

"Last night, the Democratic candidates for President once again made clear they just don't understand the terrorists' war on us," Giuliani communication chief Katie Levinson said, referring to the Democrats' Thursday night debate. "So sadly, it yet again comes as no surprise that the political leader of the Democratic Party - in a desperate effort to once again change the subject - resorted to a personal political attack."

The back-and-forth seemed to underscore growing concern among Democrats about Giuliani, who is the only Republican who beats all top Democrats in key battleground states, a poll showed this week.

I haven’t decided who I’m voting for in the primaries but if Rudy wins the nomination you bet your sweet bippy that Im voting for him. His trouble spots of abortion & guns& 3 wives, etc. do not intrude on my life or my personal values. My wife and I are anti-abortion/pro-life and we will try to raise our son and soon to be born daughter accordingly. I have a gun and nobody is going to come in my house and take it away from me. BUT, maybe I’m at a Laker game or in downtown Los Angeles on business, maybe my family is with me, a suitcase nuke goes off because Hillary & the RATS pull the plug on the troops, further emboldening the enemy, rallying the Islamo radicals to hit the US and hit it hard.

This is a no-brainer for me. Rudy, McCain, Hunter, Thompson, Mitt...anyone of the bunch has my vote against the RAT.

Rudy is just getting started at ripping new ones.

Exactly. Unlike ANY of the other candidates OR republican "leadership", Rudy destroys democrats. He's made his political living by being Ghengis Khan against those mothers. He loves the smell of slaughtered dems in the morning.

His wife is terminal and yet he continues to put his own ambitions above his family

... and I haven't heard too many (if any) political figures point that out. It is beyond tacky to put one's political ambitions ahead of your family. I suppose his wife is supposed to do chemo on the road? Politics is an obession beyond religion to these people.

Giuliani “fires back” at Dean re family life, whatever that is. But you won’t hear Rudy, or any other Republican, hit the Democrats over immigration, big government, the welfare state, excessive taxes, the United Nations, individual responsibility or political corruption. The presidential campaign in 08 is shaping up to be another non-issue campaign. Neither party will promise to lower taxes significantly, honestly confront socialism, lower spending, enforce immigration laws, cut pork, or run the crooks out of politics. Where am I wrong? Anyone?

I guess you have never listened to Duncan Hunter and Fred Thompson then, they call out the libs all the time. The problem is no one else will back them up and that include Rudy Judy and President Bush.

NARAL, a Soros funded socialist organization and an enemy to freedom. Why would any rational thinking conservative even possibly consider elevating a Soros backed socialist abortionist connected liberal to the presidency? It boggles the mind.

Sad truth is, Rudy will split the party and destroy the GOP.

Politically speaking, however, Dean going after Giuliani at this stage could possibly help him, and get all of these questions addressed now rather than later.

Do any Democrats with military records running? Remember it was so special that Horseface “served in Vietnam” just four short years ago.

Looks like that could be the case, now that you mention it. Being attacked by the likes of Howard Dean is something Giuliani could use to rally the GOP.

“Reach out all you want, Howie, expect to get your hand slapped. Rudy, with all his warts is still better than the Liberal Dems.”

Apparently you don’t read many threads. The lib Democrats are better then Rudy.
