Dean is not stupid.
From the very beginning the “CW” was that RG could win a general but could not survive the R primary.
What they r now concerned about is that ... despite all the noise about his views, private life etc ... his favorability/unfavorability rating (most imporatant poll at this point) is still higher than anyone ... by a substantial margin...and just tool an uptick.
His speech Monday night forced all four main D candidates respond like Pavlov’s dog.
RG pulled in $10 million in March and expected to pull in north of $30 million in 2nd Q. He now has organizations in all 50 states and this weeks Quinnipace polls shows him beating an D in the 6 key swing states.
Why? Read Steve Forbes column on why he endorsed him ... although they disagree on several issues.
You certainly should do everything to defeat him if you believe in someone else ... give all the money you can...but to repeat Dean’s comments is just playing their game.
You need to accept that it is very likely RG will be the nominee and the other choice is Hillary.

Heh. Given what they put up with Bubba doing when he was president, if I were a Democrat, and I were smart (to the extent that’s not a contradiction in terms), I think I’d not want to make too much of Rudy’s marital problems.

Rudy served in Vietnam you know. Sorry that was Kerry. Rudy served on 9/11. I'm sure he'll mention it sometime.

Not quite sure how a disaster of this scale could have been”managed.” The lack of communications between police and firemen because of different equipment, regretable as it was, mattered little in the end. You denigate the mayor’s leadership, but the appearance of leading is important, and he certainly did not fail in that regard. Certainly Bush’s failure in the aftermath of Katrina was largely a matter of appearance. Fact is that the government was not capable handling this even if FEMA had been up to snuff. It was up to the polical leadership to assure the public that all reasonable measures were being taken but that they had been caught by surprise but were readjusting. I still don’t understand how they could let panicky televisions news reporter set the tone and put out so much wrong information. We didn’t
t see that coming out of New York.

Like Sharpton and Maddox, Siegel and the NYCLU shredded him? Small potatoes. Wake me up when the MSM & Dems start attacking him.
Rudy OWNS the shredder, and the RATS had better learn to like it.
Rudy doesn't own anything, except for a 34C bra and panties.

And just WTF was he supposed to do about airliners taking off from other airports crashing into buildings in his city?
There comes a point that Rudy bashing goes too far past the point of credible criticism. Bush was in charge that day but I don’t blame him for what happened even though he runs the military.

Asked how they would change the U.S. military stance overseas if America were attacked once again by terrorists, the candidates all but proved the point Rudy Giuliani made earlier in the week: that, under a Democratic president, "we would go on defense" in the War on Terror. The difference being, that we would not attack them over it, and would not attempt to politicize the war, as they have done.
They would receive far more criticism from their own party.

He’s going to be a player in this election. The 40% of the people in this country who consider themselves conservatives are not a plurality in the national elections. And, after 8 years of Bush people are ready for a change. My sense is that the country is leftward right now.

If you’re taking your cues from howard dean, and still can’t see how stupid that is, you’re hopeless. Howard loves you.

Rudy Guiliani has marched in lockstep with liberals on affirmative action, gay rights, gay marriage, gun control, school prayer, tuition tax credits, liberal immigration policies, and he's reinforced it, time and time again. Just about everytime Rudy opens his mouth, offensive liberal words come pouring out. As Mayor, Rudy put liberals in high-paid city jobs, an indication what a Rudy WH would look like. Here then is Rudy in his own words:
--The New York State Liberal Party on its endorsement of Rudy Giuliani for Mayor: "When the Liberal Party Policy Committee reviewed a list of key social issues of deep concern to progressive New Yorkers, we found that Rudy Giuliani agreed with the Liberal Party's stance on a majority of such issues. He agreed with the Liberal Party's views on affirmative action, gay rights, gun control, school prayer and tuition tax credits. As Mayor, Rudy Giuliani would uphold the Constitutional and legal rights to abortion." N.Y.S. Liberal Party Endorsement Statement of Candidate Giuliani for Mayor of New York City April 8, 1989
--On the Republican Party: "Mr. Rockefeller represented 'a tradition in the Republican Party' I've worked hard to re-kindle - the Rockefeller, Javits, Lefkowitz tradition." Rudy Giuliani told the New York Times July 9, 1992
--Village Voice Interview with Guiliani: He was asked: "What kind of Republican Is [Giuliani]? A Reagan Republican?" Giuliani pauses before answering: "I'm a Republican." Village Voice January 24, 1989
--On Attending 1996 Republican Convention: Rudy expressed his pleasure when he wasn't invited to the Republican National Convention in San Diego. "If I take three or four days off from city business, I want to do it for a substantive purpose. It didn't seem to me any substantive purpose could be served by going to the Republican convention." said Rudy. Rudy! An Investigative Biography of Rudolph Giuliani, Page 459, by Wayne Barrett
--On Barry Goldwater: Giuliani described John Kennedy as "great and brilliant. Barry Goldwater as an "incompetent, confused and sometimes idiotic man." New York Daily News, May 13, 1997
--On President Bill Clinton: Shortly before his last-minute endorsement of Bob Dole in the 1996 presidential election, Giuliani told the Post's Jack Newfield that "most of Clinton's policies are very similar to most of mine." Rudy! An Investigative Biography of Rudolph Giuliani, Wayne Barrett.
--The Daily News quoted Giuliani as saying March 1996: "Whether you talk about President Clinon, Senator Dole.... The country would be in very good hands in the hands of any of that group." An Investigative Biography of Rudolph Giuliani, Wayne Barrett.
