WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A top State Department official resigned Friday after revealing to ABC News that he had been a client of the alleged "D.C. madam's" escort service.
A State Department official, on condition of anonymity, confirmed to CNN the reason for Randall Tobias' departure as director of U.S. Foreign Assistance and administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development.
The State Department said that Tobias, 65, resigned for "personal reasons."
ABC reported on its Web site that Tobias, 65, said Thursday that he had used Deborah Jeane Palfrey's escort service "to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage." He told the network that there was no sex involved.
ABC said Tobias' private cell phone number was one of thousands listed on documents that Palfrey handed over to the network, which plans to air a report on the documents on the "20/20" television news program next week.
On her Web site, Palfrey says she unconditionally gave "copies of certain years of the records ... to ABC News."

A “DC Madam”? Did Nazi Pelosi force him to resign?
The guy worked at the State department. How likely is it that he was conservative? The State dept is somewhere to the left of Fidel Castro.
Actually, the AP is referring to him as a “Bush official.” What a bunch of partisan scumbags.
“to have gals come over to the condo to give me a massage.” He told the network that there was no sex involved.”
So why resign?
(probably because his wife didn’t know and he has completely humiliated her, I’m guessing.)
A distraction the Administration doesn’t need. I wonder if Condi asked him to resign?
He was a Bushie.....
Why resign? Because he was the AIDS Czar preaching abstinence...
He preferred Latin American women....probably promised them amnesty too.

BWAhahahahaaha,,,Busted !!,,,MeMaw whupped his @$$!!!;0)
He was 65. How long do you think the guy has been in government?
Resign? Try RETIREMENT!
Absence from ‘hand kneading on back” aka massage??
If Bill Clinton can stick it out after being impeached for a verifiable, dna-lace dress and blow job, then I’m sure this fellow would have weathered the storm.
Well, now, we may have to check the Clinton dictionary on this one, LOL.
But seriously, prostitution that is conducted behind closed doors should be legal. It's that simple. How many women date men for their money? How many men date women for their hot bods? That's prostitution, too, but it's never prosecuted.
Prostitution is just honest dating. Instead of buying her dinner and some jewelry, you just give her the money up front. Unfortunately, our culture today rewards people for being dishonest, breaking hearts, having unwanted children, having abortions and going through messy divorces after marriages that were based on money, lust and/or lies. Nevada is the only sane state when it comes to dealing with prostitution and even it has too many restrictions.
I'm......not gonna touch that....LOL (posting rights intact 1 more day!)
“she unconditionally gave “copies of certain years of the records ... to ABC News.”
ROFL!!!
Well, I'm not sure I entirely agree with that (or even partially), but I will say that if my name or cellphone number were found in this "little black book", I'd say "so what" and challenge them to a lawsuit.
ABC is not a state prosecutor with the right to invade the privacy of private citizens.

No sex just a massage. Chuck Robb liked it that way too.
Here he is.
I bet, they would disagree, at least off the record
Any business that would stick a camera under the nose of a grieving person over the death of a relative or horrible event in their lives and ask the most inane question possible doesn't believe in the privacy of the citizen
He’s not a private citizen.
