This is just unfriggin believable.
I am a dog lover, but here we go...” It is not the breed, it must be the owners..how they raised the little pit bull..”
Outlaw the breed.
I'm with you. I've never heard of a collie, irish setter, or sheltie maul a kid to death -- no matter how the dog was raised.
Now you’ve done it. Look out for the personal attacks that are sure to follow. Outlawing all pit bulls seems to be a harsh overreaction to this problem, but what other solution is there?
“Outlaw the breed.”
At one time I would have disagreed with you, but I’ve come to believe that this breed has just been ruined through indiscriminate breeding by mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging morons, resulting in excessively unpredictable animals. Other than a small number of reputable breeders and owners, notice how this type of dog always seems to be owned by real low-class morons? Most sensible people don’t want anything to do with them any more. And it’s too bad, because I do believe the great majority of these animals are basically just as harmless as their owners say. I’ve known quite a few pit bulls, and the biggest danger those ones posed was getting licked to death, or thrashed with their tails.
A fairer solution would be to treat the owner of a pit bull, in law, as if he personally committed any violent act the pit bull committed.
That is, if a pit bull mauls your infant son to death, you are convicted for the second degree murder of your infant son.
Of course, the ACLU would have a field day with that one, so the only practical thing to do is dispose of the breed.
Or they will trot out the numbers showing how many more people are bitten by poodles, beagles, cocker spaniels etc.
Yes, but isn’t it interesting that those breeds aren’t killing or maiming toddlers and old ladies?
ENOUGH!
Yeah, when was the last time a beagle or greyhound mauled to death a 2 year old?
Other breeds must not have bad owners.
That means a charge of manslaughter + civil suit I would think.
ok I feel it is defiantly he owners responsibility to properly train their dogs and to properly care for them, obviously these people did not do such, I understand sometimes animals can naturally be feisty but regardless you should not single out a whole breed because of a few bad apples. to be honest I am out raged that so many supposed animal lovers do say to wipe the breed. ask yourself this, this dog has been known to attack and kill other animals, which is most likely why it was being held in the laundry room, why have an animal that you know is of this nature and keep it with a toddler in the home. I find it very appalling that so many people wish to wipe out that breed of dog when they are not all bad. I have seen my fair share of animals, pit bulls included and never been bitten by an animal classified as “a vicious breed” yet I have been bitten by a chocolate lab who are supposedly docile. learn to care for your animals properly and this wont happen, my condolences do go out to the family for their loss but this is ridiculous, you cant wipe an entire breed because of this. that is like saying humans kill other humans and animals so they should also be killed. an eye for an eye leaves the world blind and apparently the whole world is blind that think they can solve the problem of pit bulls attacking by wiping the breed, because then the next breed will be on the chopping block. why don’t you people spend your time stopping pit wars, puppy mills, and things of that nature instead of pointing the finger at the dog, find the initial cause of these problems because it isn’t the dog it is the humans raising them.
