Giuliani's Startling Departure on Civil Unions [Giuliani weaseling]
The New York Sun ^ | April 27, 2007 | RYAN SAGER

Posted on 04/27/2007 3:10:50 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

In a startling departure from his previously stated position on civil unions, Mayor Giuliani came out to The New York Sun yesterday evening in opposition to the civil union law just passed by the New Hampshire state Senate.

" Mayor Giuliani believes marriage is between one man and one woman. Domestic partnerships are the appropriate way to ensure that people are treated fairly," the Giuliani campaign said in a written response to a question from the Sun. "In this specific case the law states same sex civil unions are the equivalent of marriage and recognizes same sex unions from outside states. This goes too far and Mayor Giuliani does not support it."

The Democratic governor of New Hampshire, John Lynch, has said publicly that he will sign the civil union law.

On a February 2004 edition of Fox News's "The O'Reilly Factor," Mr. Giuliani told Bill O'Reilly, when asked if he supported gay marriage, "I'm in favor of … civil unions."

He also said, "Marriage should be reserved for a man and a woman." Asked by Mr. O'Reilly in the interview how he would respond to gay Americans who said being denied access to the institution of marriage violated their rights, Mr. Giuliani said: "That's why you have civil partnerships. So now you have a civil partnership, domestic partnership, civil union, whatever you want to call it, and that takes care of the imbalance, the discrimination, which we shouldn't have." In 1998, as mayor of New York City, Mr. Giuliani signed into law a domestic partnership bill that a gay rights group, the Empire State Pride Agenda, hailed as setting "a new national benchmark for domestic partner recognition."

The bannings are about support for Guiliani, who is a liberal GOP candidate. Nothing more.

Oh, there's more. Much more.

You know, where it says "RIGA CONFERENCE", it wouldn't be too hard to "fix" it so it reads "RINO CONFERENCE".

Heheh----yeah---perfect.

Support Giuliani? Fine.

Lying about his record and words to make him look conservative? Not fine.

Lying about other candidates’ records and words to make him look better by comparison? Definitely not fine.

Big difference #1 and the last two.

One of Rooty’s queer roommates said that they trained him on playing dress-up, how to walk and talk, bla bla. He spent weeks on it AND he even ordered custom-made women's underwear!

Rooty even ordered custom-made women's underwear.......nuff said.

LOL, there are many Giuliani supporters on the board. They are still here...so that disqualifies your claim.

No it doesn't. I've seen the names of the 75 or 100 or so who are gone. I've posted to lots of them and they don't stand out as liars. They share a common trait, support for Rudy, not dishonesty.

Did he say if he and Nurse Juti share them?

Well, they're liars, that's been explained to me

Anything more?

Cursing and insulting Jim.

Daring and begging to be banned.

Personal attacks on other Freepers.

Rudy is playing word games with marriage, partnership, etc. His definition of the different terms seems to be pretty much the same. Reminds me of Clinton twisting his words.

I don't think they share---Juti likes boxers, Ruty likes briefs.

I like some of them too. However, you should go back and read the thread, because I have not seen one that didn’t practically beg to be zotted and or show utter disrespect for the owner of the site.

"Is it because they are liberals who say they are conservatives?"

I don't think so, I think it's because they see Rudy as a conservative candidate with maybe some leanings toward liberalism. They think he can beat Hillary, and they'll overlook his faults. Yeah, he's really a liberal when you look at him, but he's still putting himself forward as a conservative candidate, and most Americans see him that way.

Not everyone sees Rudy as a socialist as Jim does. OTOH, I've known people to call Bush a socialist and there are at least a few grains of truth in that assertion.

Giuliani Reinvented

by Robert Lederman

“In much the same way American corporations repackage a product as New and Improved!!! that’s been involved in controversy, death or human suffering, Mayor Giuliani’s handlers have been doing an impressive job of repackaging him. Keep in mind however-it’s only a new package. Inside, the product is as toxic, defective and dangerous as ever.

...Among Cukor’s past contributions to the softening of Giuliani’s image was the idea for the Mayor to appear on national television and in various press events in drag. This was not merely a half-hour involvement in slipping on a dress and wig for a laugh but a months long coaching effort in walking, talking a and singing like a woman complete with custom-made undergarments. To make his transformation complete, Giuliani did everything but have sex-surgery.

I don't know about cursing and insulting Jim. or Daring and begging to be banned.. Banning for personal attacks, that's laughable. Personal attacks are made all the time, any bannings on that basis are highly selective. I can call you a traitor, or disloyal or gay or an abortionist or post ugly religious slurs all day long without reprecussions as I'm on the "right" side of the "issue".

We're back to support for Rudy.

My guess is they all wore whichever ones they happened to pick up off the floor when they dressed in the morning.
