Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) said yesterday that there are risks in sending bills to President Bush that cut off troop funding in Iraq and that passing such bills may not be possible.
Clinton, taking questions following a speech to the National Jewish Democratic Council, was asked by former Rep. Martin Frost (D-Texas) what the chances are Congress will be able to send such bills to Bush, get them signed or override an expected veto.
I think it will be extremely challenging if at all possible, Clinton said.
Clinton put the blame on Bush, criticizing the president for not being willing to work with Democrats on tactics for getting out of Iraq.
You know as well as I do how difficult it will be, Clinton said. [Bush] is a very hard person to deal with on these issues. Clinton also cautioned that Democrats dont want to be blamed for cutting off funding for troops in harms way, acknowledging the political risks of such a maneuver.
Clinton and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson (D) rounded out the third day of the National Jewish Democratic Councils first annual forum yesterday, both offering strong defenses of the U.S. alliance with Israel.
Clinton had clear loyalties in the room, receiving two introductions instead of the customary one and taking the stage saying she felt like she was at a family reunion.
Clinton spoke of her relationships with certain of those in the audience as well as her commitment to protecting Israel.
Clinton was also asked about what kind of role former President Clinton might play in her administration.
Theres going to be a lot of work for him to do around the world, Clinton said, stopping shy of recent pledges that the former president would serve as ambassador to the world.
Richardson devoted most of his time pleading with the crowd to look at his résumé and not his fundraising or his opponents rock-star status.
Richardson also said he wanted to see many debates, more than the six the Democratic National Committee has planned. The governor said such debates put all the candidates on a level playing field, as some zillionaire candidates are raising amounts of money that others cant compete with.
Frontrunners shouldnt be afraid of debates, Richardson said.
Translation: George won't roll over and do what WE want!
[Hillary]Clinton: Bush is a very hard person with which to deal.'
That would be funny, if it wasn't such a serious and real matter.
She might not have much on him, but I wonder what she has on his dad? That would explain why he has given in to her as much as he has.
May I suggest this alternative?:
Hillary Clinton: 'Bush is a very hard person for witches to deal with'
Very good!
With her FJBs?
I’ve thought that for a long time too, Free.
Pot/Kettle
Yes, and you’re a walk in the park. Sheesh! PKB syndrome!
Hilly couldnt deal with her own husband...how should she expect to deal with a man that doesnt embarrass his wife with his extracurricular activities? she knows not what that is.
That's nothing. Try to imagine the former Republican Congress trying to make deals with someone who was convicted of perjury.
I guess she kept the “Jew B*st*rd” remarks in check during the conference.
Some family reunion — The Qitch Queen and all her B*st*rds.
Oooops. s/b “Witch Queen”.
Thanks. Kudos to you for the inspiration.
It's called victory! Next question!
"Clinton was also asked about what kind of role former President Clinton might play in her administration."
The answer is too obvious! Next question!
Once again, why do many Jews still vote for losers like the Clintons, Pelosi, Reid and Murtha? It’s truly inexplicable and baffling to me. The RATs support the terrorists who kill Jews and would kill more of us too if and when they can do so.
If anyone wants to see the Dems duke it out, PMSNBC is going to carry the debates. I checked and C-span is not carrying it as it wasn’t on their tonight’s line-up. I am going to check it out to see if any candidate will TALK BACK to Ms. Hill! I may not be able to stand it more than 10 minutes.
Without a doubt, he hasn’t been hard enough.
