Basinger 'hires bodyguard for daughter' after Baldwin phone rant
Last updated at 16:58pm on 23rd April 2007
Feuding Kim Basinger hired a bodyguard to protect her daughter Ireland after her ex-husband left an angry message on the girl's phone, it has been claimed.
The star is said to have arranged 24-hour cover for Ireland after her father labelled the 11-year-old a "thoughtless little pig" on the voicemail, which was leaked to the media.
Mother and daughter were seen in Los Angeles over the weekend - accompanied by the burly security man.

Baldwin has apologised for his outburst but a judge has since banned him from seeing his daughter before a court hearing on May 4.
The leaked message was contained in a sealed court file in the former couple's three-year custody fight over the girl, who lives with her mother in Los Angeles.
His lawyers said Basinger was the only parent with access to the vociemail.

"I am sorry for what happened," Baldwin wrote on his web site. "But I am equally sorry that a court order was violated, which had deliberately been put under seal in this case.
"Although I have been told by numerous people not to worry too much, as all parents lose their patience with their kids, I am most saddened that this was released to the media because of what it does to a child," he wrote.
Baldwin has been keeping his head down at a holiday home near New York.
He lost his temper with his daughter when she didn't answer the phone for a court-authorised call with him.

Notice how the two are always pictured with the daughter looking glum or petulant and Kim always has her arm around her. She’s weird.

Nope on all counts. Having your father verbally abuse you is what is brutal, just brutal.

It’s a shame! There is no way this kid avoids being screwed up.

It's beyond my understanding how a "loving" mother could embarrass her daughter in front of the entire world by releasing this to the media.
This is, unfortunately, just another example of how fathers are screwed in custody disputes.
From what I understand, the judge ordered Bladwin to call his daughter at specific times. The daughter continually failed to answer the telephone when she was supposed to, at the direction of her mother I would guess.
The girl's failure to live up to the judge's order, and her refusal to obey her father's direction to answer the telephone, does make her a thoughtless little pig. I have no sympathy for her.

What would be ironic is if it was his alimony was going to pay for the bodyguard to protect his daughter against him. [himself?] [his own self?] [hissef?]
He probably could have saved money (and his daughter's feelings) if he'd just hired a 24/7 handler/anger management therapist for himself to begin with.
Nah, on second thought, for what it would cost to get someone to tolerate being around him 24/7, the bodyguard's probably cheaper, and he obviously doesn't give a BLEEP about his daughter's feelings anyway.

"The girl's failure to live up to the judge's order, and her refusal to obey her father's direction to answer the telephone, does make her a thoughtless little pig. I have no sympathy for her."Actually, I tend to believe that this is not the very first time Alec has lost his temper with this child. I also think this is not the first time he has been abusive (it just rolled off his tongue so easily.... as though it had been well practiced). If that is the case, she is choosing to protect herself in a manner that a 12 year old thinks is appropriate.
Additionally, even if she is a "thoughtless little pig" (as most preteens are) you NEVER, EVER tell them that. Someone has to be the adult in this relationship. I'm not sure they have decided who yet.

Oh _)PAH-Leeeeeeeese!
Sometimes 11/12(any) year old girls *do*
act likelittle inconsiderate pigs...and
need to be called on it.
Do i think that Baldwin, who i despise, could
have handfled it a lot better? Of course.
But bodyguards and denial of vistitaion,
without court interview to find out if he
was just blowing off steam???
This is just theatre.

Seems to me neither one of these parents is looking out for their daughter’s welfare. But Baldwin’s temper tantrums make him look ridiculous. Apparently, he doesn’t care. He’s rich, he’s famous, therefore he has a right to act like an idiot.

Perhaps. Better that when he next saw her, he put her over his lap and spanked the crap out of her ass. Some kids just need that.

That poor kid has two whack-jobs as “parents.”
Dear Lord Jesus, please deliver this child into your guidance.

I would seriously make certain that any bodyguard I hired to protect my underage daughter was a strict and practicing homosexual.
Why not a decent heterosexual male who isn’t a pedophile?
Another thing; none of this is about the kid. Take a careful look at the pictures. Who is always in the center? That should tell you who it’s all about.
Get that kid a lawyer and divorce her from those parents.

Which is worse—verbally abused by her father, or emotionally abused by her mother? The girl had a phone call from her father which had been set by the court. He calls and she won’t talk to him and he goes nuts. Her mother who was responsible for her daughter taking the call, records the anger of the father and then leaks the recording to the press. The anger was private, the recording is world wide public. Two miserable human beings and a child imprisoned in their circle of desperate hate and meanness. No way any court can make the outcome of this custody battle come out well for the daughter. She may never forgive either of them.

Agreed, there were better ways this could have been handled privately without releasing the tape to the public.
A pox on both Kim’s and Alec’s Houses.
