If it hits any price, I will never feel entitled to steal it through communism, nor to whine and complain as if gasoline had ever been promised to me at an affordable price.

Unlike many others I know....

To me something like the Duel Sport is a practical motorcycle, not these pocket rockets everyone is riding today. What I want is about a 350cc On/Off road bike with a small faring. Something light quick, and maneuverable. I feel safest when I can get out of the way of a collision.

.............nor to whine and complain as if gasoline had ever been promised to me at an affordable price.

On a similar thought, I do recall inferences, if not outright promises by people in this administration that the invasion of Iraq and its reconstruction would be paid for by Iraqi oil exports along with increase in oil production, resulting in constant if not lower prices at the pump.

So far, the war and reconstruction is being paid for by US taxpayers, even going into debt, oil production is not even at prewar levels and the prices at the pump are rising.

I don't know about you but I as a taxpayer expect a return on my tax dollars and expect a fulfillment of promises from my government, which were, availability of gas at affordable prices!

And your “supreme” is 91 craptane.

Aren’t taxes most of the reason for the disparity in CA prices, vs. most of the rest of the country?

I think CA prices are higher because there are so many special area blends in the state.

That may be some of it, but taxes are a chunk. Third highest in the nation, for gasoline taxes. More than $0.18 a gallon more than my state.

If I could figure out how to use that without the roller skates it would be a good idea. Me and roller scates get along worse than me and $4 per gallon.

Yeah, the skates lack something rather important - *brakes*.

When I was a kid, I saw several similar-sized 2-cycle engines fitted to bicycles. Those rigs were usually friction-drive and were mounted over the front wheel. I just did a quick search and found an interesting update of that idea. Search "Revopower" and you'll find a small gas engine and chain drive mechanism - all sandwiched into the hub section of a 26" aluminum bicycle wheel. The gas tank fits into a standard water bottle bracket.

When it gets to $4/gallon I will get hysterical.

That'll help.

They weren’t far off. Some of the more extreme locales (e.g. Malibu) were well over $4.00 a gallon.

I don’t think we’ll get to $4 only because the public will have no choice but to conserve. The public knows when to buckle down.

As kids we tested those motorized bikes. A man on our street worked on the first weed whackers and worked in his garge at home figuring out every manner of use for the little engines, including bicycles and scooters. He let us ride them all over the neighborhood to test them.

The engines mounted over the front tire on a bike wore the tire down rather quickly.
