I really and truly do not understand. Do you really think I would go for a gay/abortion/anti-gun liberal activist as the GOP nominee for president without putting up one hell of a fight? How could anyone ever come to that conclusion? Have you ignored every statement of purpose I’ve ever posted and all of my posts and arguments for conservative values and against liberalism all these years? I’m completely baffled. Shocked actually.

I never for a single moment expected that you would go for a candidate who was not conservative, and I never said otherwise. I’m talking about the lack of civility on this thread.

I’m baffled that you are baffled.

Unfortunately, I think some have drank from the lib koolaid cup and actually think Rudy is a conservative.

They think they can takeover. They are upset at the tide lately.

Your demeanor has been far from professional - something I would expect from the forum owner. I think that your hateful language and harangues have shocked many of us. As a gun-totin, abortion-hating gal, I’m appalled at the vitriol against fellow Republicans. You can count me out of here as a statistic.

Jim, I of course never expected that you would support a) a candidate; or b) a principle, that went against your consistently expressed philosophy.

You have also, in the past, discouraged rhetoric and accusations (a/k/a flame wars) that thrive on other parts of the internet.

It seems that THAT means of operating FR has gone by the boards, at least for now.

I have no dispute that you can run your site however you see fit, and I'd like to stay.

But as for the Presidential stuff - I can't clearly see the line that one can't cross, and it's probably better for me to stay away from those threads.

I expected you to fight.... but I thought you'd fight better. Your forum isn't behaving like a serious political force right now... it's ranting like a bunch of guys at a bar who've had a few too many.

There's a fine line between idealism that inspires a political following, and a shrill hysteria that makes people want to take a few steps back.

Sell your point of view. Be better than the alternative, not meaner. I honestly don't think angry is going to sway a single voter.

That's all... I'm actually saying this because I really do hope a Republican president is elected next term. I do not want to nullify every one of our losses in the WOT by electing someone to office who does not even value American victory over terrorism. And I don't want to tick you off or have to leave this forum, it would truly break my heart. I meant it when I said my best friends are here. The ones who flew out from all over the country to be at my wedding, and those who followed along on this forum from home. There's real good people here. I just had a knot in my stomach reading this thread where people are salivating at the chance to drive yet more people away... that just doesn't make any sense to me.

..it is my understanding that Rudy-flavored Kool-Aid has that effect on people...

I suspect that in part it comes from people unable to separate proper respect and support for a sitting President in war time from the correct and vigerous discussion of who will properly represent conservative values in the next election.

Its two different things but some people don’t see that.
