It seems that conservatives are about to make the same mistake that they made in 2000. Every Cassandra warned the movement conservatives that GW Bush was a liberal, but they were all duped by his "compassionate conservatism," which we since have learned really means "liberal globalism."
Now, despite all the warnings, they are about to be conned by Fred Thompson too - another neocon (aka liberal globalist). Will they get what they deserve? Can people really be so shortsighted? In 2011 will we hear GOP cheerleaders, "If only I had known...."
Let's look at Fred Thompson on the issues.
First and foremost, let's ponder immigration, the greatest threat facing the West today. As Jean Raspail foretold in Camp of the Saints, the "best conservative novel ever written," a third-world invasion of the West is taking place, and we must make a stand - before it is too late.
Although tough talking on border control, Fred Thompson has a rather weak record from his time in the Senate. Americans for Better Immigration only gave him a career grade of C. And on chain migration, visa lotteries, reducing unnecessary visas, asylum fraud, and reducing amnesties, he received rather low marks.
Thompson is almost certainly pro-abortion, regardless what he feigns. He has said, "The ultimate decision must be made by the woman." In other words, he believes it's a "choice."
Thompson is pro-affirmative action, and his two votes in the Senate guaranteed that under-qualified minorities would be given preference over Euro-Americans (i.e. white people). Thompson obviously believes that victimology should trump hard work.
And like all neocons, Thompson supports free trade, which is destroying our economy and undermining our sovereignty. Historically, conservatives opposed free trade, and they should; it's national suicide. But Thompson like many GOP cheerleaders has been "neoconned" on this issue.
In foreign policy, Fred Thompson is an adamant neocon globalist. He is a fellow at the neocon American Enterprise Institute, and a member of the neocon / neoliberal Council on Foreign Relations, which supports the creation of a North American Union and the eradication of American sovereignty.
In short, Fred Thompson is no real conservative. He's a neocon globalist. Only look at his past actions, memberships and words.
We already have three real conservatives in the running (Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Duncan Hunter) and let's give them the support they deserve. If Fred Thompson receives the nomination, I'm voting Constitution Party.
Oh yeah, I forgot about the whole tinfoil hat thing. Never mind...as you were.
hosepipe wrote: “Could be true that.. Fred is NOT for a FREE Republic.. Who knows these days.. I am waiting for a candidate to even CALL the U.S. a Republic.. Even then it could be rhetoric..”
In the Cavuto interview, Fred said, “You have to ultimately have the support of the American people. It is not a matter of kumbaya-ing over at with Congress; it is having the support of the American people. That is where the power is in a democracy, and in a republic such as ours as a people.”
But I’m sure it was only rhetoric. /sarc
Here comes a very fine man, who never declared his candidacy for the Presidential Seat and gets sand bagged by his own Party.
Nobody seem to remember that Fred Thompson when he ran for the Tennessee's Senator's seat had said that he will serve the term as the Founding fathers intended to be.
He did just that, served as a Senator left his foot print (good or bad) and than went to the private sector as it should be.
Fred Thompson, in my book is the epitome of what the founding fathers ment as to how the Congress should operate.
The ones who say the country has moved to the left so we need to run a left-leaner don’t bother me, even though they’re wrong. It’s the ones (the majority, sadly) who try to tell us he’s really a conservative and/or that nobody else in the race is more conservative than Rudy. They’re peeing on my leg and telling me it’s raining.
Oh, did I mentioned that almost everybody is busy to dig up dirt on the man, instead to looks on the positive vices he might bring to the Office?
Let's vote for Rudy!!!!
Psych!
oh, don't blame him for that. You see, there aren't any!
LOL!
Thank you, I’m here all week! Try the veal!
Veal Marsala......I make it well....Y U M !
I see the Fred fan club has now convinced themselives that the ONLY person currently seeking the GOP nomination is named "Rudy". And let me guess, the only person the Dems have is "Hillary"
Funny, I coulda swore there were about a dozen other people actively running for President...
Duncan Hunter may be a great guy, and even a good Presidential candidate, but he’s virtually unknown, even by some conservatives. If he gets out on the trail this year, and comports himself well, he’ll get known, and maybe in the next contested election, he’ll do better.
It’s still very early, Suzi. A lot can happen, good and bad, before the primaries.
That’s why it’s good to have lots of candidates to learn about!
I agree. Thompson's rather nebulous speech seems to avoid the obvious solutions:
- Build and arm an impenetrable border with neighboring countries.
- Severely penalize employers who employ illegals as well as state governments who distribute federal resources to illegals as part of state welfare programs.
- DEPORT those found to be here illegally AS THEY ARE DISCOVERED through entry into the criminal justice system (arrests), attempts to find employment, or anonymous tips by citizens.
