WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrat John Edwards is trying to get out of a hairy situation, reimbursing his presidential campaign $800 for two visits with a Beverly Hills stylist. Two $400 cuts by stylist Joseph Torrenueva, who told The Associated Press that the former North Carolina senator is a longtime client, showed up on Edwards' campaign spending reports filed this weekend. Edwards spokesman Eric Schultz said it never should have been there.
"The bill was sent to the campaign. It was inadvertently paid," Schultz said. "John Edwards will be reimbursing the campaign."
Edwards is also the subject of a popular YouTube spoof poking fun at his youthful good looks. The video shows the candidate combing his tresses to the dubbed-in tune of "I Feel Pretty."
Federal Election Commission records show Edwards' campaign also spent $250 in services from Designworks Salon in Dubuque, Iowa, and $225 in services from the Pink Sapphire in Manchester, N.H.
Schultz said those services were legitimate campaign expenditures to prepare Edwards for media appearances.
Political candidates often have hair and makeup done before media appearances. Edwards rival Hillary Rodham Clinton got some attention last year when her campaign paid $2,500 for two hairstyling sessions that the campaign classified as media production expenses.
It’s almost worse now. At least before it looked like he only spent 400 bucks on his hair because he was a candidate for office.
Now they are telling us this is just what he ALWAYS pays for his haircuts.
I guess he is right about the “two americas”. In one, people spend a month’s rent on making their hair look right. In the other, we cut our own hair or pay someone ten bucks.
So here’s man who has a lot, lot more money than 99% of the people in the country and is so vain that he “needs” haircuts that cost hundreds of dollars, and then he goes and charges the haircuts to his campaign? What happened? Was he a little short on cash that day? Maybe he left his credit card at home?
Just the kind of man we need to run the country: an egotistical putz. How can a man who talks about “two Americas” (a slight rip-off of Michael Harrington?) claim to know anything about the “other” America, considering the rather insular America he lives in?
A fool and his money are soon parted.
“The video shows the candidate combing his tresses to the dubbed-in tune of “I Feel Pretty.”
That must be hilarious; I hope I can find it!
Two Americas: One that pays $400 for a haircut, and one that doesn’t.
Its OK because he buys folicle offsets.
"Ohhhhhhh, girls... just wanna have FUH-unnnnnnnnn...!"
;)
Wow!! $400, huh? I would be more than happy to give him the name of my husband’s barber. $7 for a USMC reg. cut. Nothing sexier. I have no use for preening sissies.
I wonder if everything used for his treatments was free of chemicals, unharmful to the environment and was never tested on little puppies? Does he insist on hairspray from a pump bottle or does he permit the use of an aerosol canned spray?
Ann was right.
Is that Pink Sapphire Spa anything like ....... a bath house?
"Does this haircut make my ass look huge? Be honest, now." ;)
You just know some anonymous staffer at Hillary ‘08 got a big pat on the back for ferreting these items out of Edwards’ expense reports and sending them up the chain.
Heh, heh, heh...
Remember the oh-so-sappy Wendy’s deal? Here is Mark Steyn’s account of the touching (photo op) moment:

I wish I could post the photo of the two PO’d Marines, but I don’t have it.
Ozone depleting SPRAY! Watch the video.
I need a haircut, I will send the bill to them.
