With Bush appointees John Roberts and Samuel Alito leading the way, a 5-4 majority turned its back on more than 30 years of Supreme Court decisions that protected women's health from dangerous laws that restrict abortion.
In the cases of Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood and Gonzales v. Carhart, the court has now made the Bush abortion ban the law of the land. There is no way we will let this stand. This ruling takes away an important option for doctors who seek the best and safest care for their patients. And it sets a precedent that politicians should make intensely private health care decisions for women and families, when in fact these decisions should be made by a woman in consultation with her doctor.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Nurses Association, and many other medical groups oppose the federal ban. And, until now, every single court that examined the ban struck it down because, among other things, it fails to protect women's health.
Acting quickly and decisively, we have to do what the Supreme Court refused to do. We have to stop politicians from interfering with women's personal medical decisions.

I told them that considering 53% or so of the one million babies dismembered while alive each year (in the US alone) are female, it was quite a good day indeed!

What kind of doctor is so backwards that when faced with a life threatening delivery situation-he forgoes an emergency C-section and instead decides to watch his patient endure hours of delivery,where she possibly bleeds out or strokes out ?
And then he swoops in as the baby is almost completely delivered to pith the brain and declare he has just performed a life saving procedure ?
This is the stuff of barbarians during the Middle Ages.

I've been reading the exchanges you have been having about prepaid return envelopes. I do the same with AARP and other liberal causes looking for dollars.
I cut my name and home address off all the pages and send that garbage back. I stuff as much paper into the envelopes that will fit and tape it shut.

Last time it came up, the USSC voted the opposite way. That was a dark day, a frightening one.
Today? This is a great decision. It wouldn’t have been possible without Roberts and Alito.
Its been a long time since the President had a ‘win’ politically. Without his appointments to the USSC this wouldn’t have happened.
I’m not frightened at all, I’m very happy this has finally come to an end.
Don’t get me wrong — I’m happy with the decision. I’m just concerned that, with this close of a call on what should be an indisputable decision, we can’t hope for much more progress on the abortion front.
I think this is the most obvious step; others will be much harder. It’s the reason why we need good justices like Roberts and Alito. I wouldn’t say that we will not have more progress on shutting down abortion, but I think that with every step we make, the next will probably be much more difficult. But this is an abominable to God and He is leading... Nothing is impossible.
I sense a a fund drive by PP in the near future.
I sense several full page adds in the broad sheets soon.
What the real message was, “You’re taking money out of the pockets of the murder for profit killers”.
