Your immediate help is essential as Planned Parenthood responds to the disastrous U.S. Supreme Court decision issued just hours ago. It's a dark day for women's health and safety.
With Bush appointees John Roberts and Samuel Alito leading the way, a 5-4 majority turned its back on more than 30 years of Supreme Court decisions that protected women's health from dangerous laws that restrict abortion.
In the cases of Gonzales v. Planned Parenthood and Gonzales v. Carhart, the court has now made the Bush abortion ban the law of the land. There is no way we will let this stand. Not when it's an issue so central to women's lives and so crucial to the health care services that Planned Parenthood provides to women every day.

As you read this, Planned Parenthood lawyers and medical experts are carefully studying the justices' opinions, searching out ways to ensure that our patients are provided with the best and safest possible care under this reckless ruling.
Meanwhile teams of organizers and advocates are being dispatched to key states to directly confront anti-choice legislators who are tripping over themselves to make sure that women in their states will be the first to suffer the impact of this dogmatic Supreme Court decision.
We need your immediate financial support to sustain our legal, organizing, and media efforts. With you by our side, Planned Parenthood will lead a massive public expression of outrage over this decision in the days ahead. Please rush an emergency donation in as generous an amount as you can possibly afford. In the aftermath of this decision, every moment counts.

This ruling takes away an important option for doctors who seek the best and safest care for their patients. And it sets a precedent that politicians should make intensely private health care decisions for women and families, when in fact these decisions should be made by a woman in consultation with her doctor.
The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Nurses Association, and many other medical groups oppose the federal ban. And, until now, every single court that examined the ban struck it down because, among other things, it fails to protect women's health.
Acting quickly and decisively, we have to do what the Supreme Court refused to do. We have to stop politicians from interfering with women's personal medical decisions.

Our opponents are already mobilizing to use this decision as the foundation for a brutal, far-reaching assault on reproductive freedom that would have devastating consequences for women all across America. We must never let them succeed.
Let's get to work.

Personally, I think its a great day.
Then again, I’m not an angry feminist.
Amazing. I guess they are all upset because they cant murder the way they want to.
It is always a dark day for PP when they can’t make money killing a baby.
Spare us the drama. We all know you are just pimping for money using fear tactics.
Translation: “Send us big bucks so we can keep on killing perfectly normal babies in perfectly normal pregnancies for the conveniences of the mothers!!”
I wonder how much revenue they will lose now that this ‘procedure’ is illegal? Would like to see their books.
Seeing as how half of the aborted children are women, I’d say that this was a very good day for women’s health.
A dark day for them is when another innocent baby may live.
If you are having a partial birth abortion it has NOTHING to do with your HEALTH! This is the most dangerous and disgusting ways you could have an abortion for the mother.. it is NEVER EVER Medically indicated.
Planned Parenthood are disgusting and dispicable excuses for human beings.
Regardless of whether you believe in abortion or not, there is no way you can justify a defense of Partial Birth abortion as medically needed... NONE.
Yeah, not allowing them to pull the baby's head out and pop it like a zit really depresses some people I suppose.
“Seeing as how half of the aborted children are women, Id say that this was a very good day for womens health.”
Fair point thats taken badly by Planned Parenthood, NOW, etc.
But a great one for soon-to-be-born babies!
these are viable human beings that can live outside the womb....not blastocysts or Zygotes.
good call by the SCOTUS.
Exactly how does Planned Parenthood plan to legally overturn the US Supreme Court in order to continue their genocide capaign?
Planned Barrenhood cashes in. They should be thrilled.
I just called the local Planned Parent office and remarked that the Supreme Court decision was going to save many lives and the nastiest women I have ever heard hung up on me.
That is absolutely correct. How can anyone in their sane mind support this disgusting practice is beyond me. Nor can they really claim that it’s ‘for the health of the mother’ - in the late third trimester she can have the baby at any time if her health deteriorates to the point it is a health risk.
And you will notice that PP called it an abortion ban, not a partial birth abortion ban. They have taken this opportunity to ask for more money, also. (Did anyone see “House” last week where they operated on a baby in the womb and the little hand came out and clasped the doctor’s finger? Best advertisement for an abortion ban I have seen on television)
By doing all they can to see to it that Rudy is nominated so the abortion issue is decided in the primaries, not the general election. If they can get Rudy through the GOP primaries, November will be pro-abort v. pro-abort, and they can be assured of pro-abort nominees beginning 2009.
Also, President Rudy would repeal the partial-birth abortion ban, making this decision moot.
