I just found out about the massacre at Virginia Tech.
The thing that makes me most angry is that the dead students were penned up like sheep for the slaughter, in a ridiculous "gun-free zone." A better phrase would be "self-defense-free zone," or maybe "danger-free zone for armed criminals."

You’ve got some good photos! :O)
Ahhh, just your imagination.
This is a straw man argument. Not many of us here are suggesting that there should be 4000 teenage students running around armed. The suggestion is that if some people were allowed to have concealed carry, then (1) it is possible that at least part of this tragedy could have been averted due to the intervention by an armed civilian or (2) the possibility of armed civilians on campus might have been a deterrent in the first place.
It is pointless to discuss this problem without knowing the perpetrator’s motivation. This seems to be of no interest to the MSM including Drudge.
“Asian” and “looking for girlfriend” are covering up a serious story needing discussion.
We live in a time when we must have access to firearms. All except Muslims.
How do you feel about 18 year-olds making a choice to enlist in the military? If their old enough to go protect your life and liberties, don't you think their old enough to protect their own?
From “96 Minutes” Texas Monthly article about the Charles Whitman shootings:
IT SEEMED LIKE EVERY OTHER GUY HAD A RIFLE.
Students waited and waited for the police to arrive. The shootings would spur the creation of SWAT teams across the country, but at that time, the Austin Police Department had no tactical unit to deploy. Its officers had only service revolvers and shotguns, which were useless against a sniper whose perch was hundreds of yards away. Communication with headquarters was difficult, with few handheld radios, and the phone system was jammed across the city. Some officers went home to get their rifles; others directed traffic away from campus. In the absence of any visible police presence, students decided to defend themselves.

CLIF DRUMMOND was a senior and the student body president. He is a high-tech executive in Austin.
Students with deer rifles were leaning up against telephone poles, using the pole, which is rather narrow, as their shield. And they were firing like crazy back at the Tower.

BILL HELMER: I remember thinking, All we need is a bunch of idiots running around with rifles. But what they did turned out to be brilliant. Once he could no longer lean over the edge and fire, he was much more limited in what he could do. He had to shoot through those drain spouts, or he had to pop up real fast and then dive down again. Thats why he did most of his damage in the first twenty minutes.”
This one goes into the queue named "shamelessly stolen taglines"

I wonder if Virginia Tech President Charles Steger, is willing to subject HIS family to the same stupidity as he subjected those on campus by putting a sign up on HIS front lawn, “Gun Free Zone”?
From Planet Blacksburg:
“1:48pm: Derek O’dell, a sophomore biology major was in a classroom on the second floor of Norris Hall when the shooter came in and began to shoot. He let off a full round before leaving. O’dell was one of 10-15 people shot in the class, and was hit in his upper arm. According to O’dell, the shooter was an Asian male in his twenties wearing a maroon hat and a black coat.”

Nice one.
Great question Joe.
Thank you. That’s how I see it.

You're not a psychiatrist, are you? :O)
LOL
8-)
YEP....EVERYTIME I walked into my grandson’s gradeschool and saw the “GUN FREE ZONE” sign I would get a sick feeling in my stomach.....and in the primary classes - there were NO doors - they all opened onto a common area.....if this ends up in court, maybe finally, at least the TEACHER’S will be required to be armed, like Israel. That could cull out some of those idiot teachers, too....if they cannot get a CCW.....they shouldn’t be teaching our kids, either.
