It’s SPECULATION, but if he put the gun under his chin and shot straight up, wouldn’t that blow most of the front of his face off?

The cops had devices to bust windows out. They could have driven a truck through the front door for all i care, but they should have rushed to get in that building and I don’t think they did.

I cannot believe shep calling these college students “children”........they are young adults and are behaving admirably in a very difficult situation.....

That bothered me too. Most of these students were probably in high school during the 9/11 terrorist attack and unfortunately learned to cope with that horrific event.

-are we all forgetting the age of some of our nation’s finest young men and women serving in Iraq? -they are children as well, but how many of us would refer to them as children?

My husband used to teach at VT and knows the campus well. He teaches today at a small college. All schools should have an emergency plan—this should be well thought out in advance. Even my husband’s small college has one. And he thought it was very possible to shut down that campus and extremely negligent not to do so.

I suppose that had nothing to do with the fact that the doors were chained shut from the inside.

But how do the cops know that the doors were chained from the inside if they were outside the entire building?

Let's hope another one doesn't happen this week

I have a daughter in college and a husband who teaches college. So my entire family depends on the safety of college campuses. I worry about them.

Having seen the worst side of "Captain Mascara" last year, Smith is going to use the language that lets him exploit a story the most.

What difference does it make if WE know the name? It’s not even like law enforcement needs to go find him, he’s dead. We WANT to know the name, but that might not be the primary focus right now. But they probably do know his name — and maybe they are withholding it while they find and notify HIS family.

Or, still SPECULATION, maybe they want to hold the name because they are actually doing an investigation and are questioning people who would know him and associate with him and don’t want to taint the investigation or to warn others about their work.

I say let them do the work. Eventually we will know the facts, and at this point the more speculation we have the less we will remember the real truth when we learn it.

False alerts do have a cost. The school was locked down 2-3 times the previous week, and the kids were paying good money to be taught, not to be locked in their dorm rooms.

Given the escalation of violence - from mere bomb threats to actual corpses - the security apparatus should have realized that there may be a larger problem at hand. They can't just play the "boy who cried wolf" and decide, "nah, not this time. We've got paying students to educate." The results are painfully obvious.

If I getting my story right (I’ve read so many posts lately), the guy who entered on a student visa was the owner of a cell phone found by the killer’s body. I’ll see if I can find where I read that and source it for you.

i only have elementary age children. But I think about my sons school and how they are no cops there at all. The doors are wide open and anyone can walk in at anytime and start shooting up the place. It bothers me a lot and all I can do is pray for my kids safety each day and put my kids in God’s hands.

Here’s a link that will take you to the video.

The Barghouti kid said that the police were waiting outside because they couldn’t get in through the main door (I imagine it was chained)...but they finally broke through, and that is the point in the video where you see all the police run at once toward the building.
