Just sharing my thoughts, which transcend easy definitions of what occurred, terror vs. non-terror, etc. One thing for certain, it was Evil, and this is a deeply sad day.

But, you might also look up "extrapolation"...:) We know too little at this point to discern motive/intention/cause, so I cannot answer your pointed question. Notice my first statement: "This has the effect of terror."

Maybe you feel untouched by it... I don't.

This sort of exploitation angers me to no end. I lost a friend to illness and it took years to get over. Putting these kids on TV hours after losing friends is just obscene.

I think it was either CNN or Fox on XM radio sometime this afternoon - could have read it somewhere.

Anyway, there are a variety of pics of cuffed (not "arrested", there's a difference) asian men outside the building floating around.

And it wasn't random, it was anyone that remotely matched the description of the shooter.

The college prez said they did use sirens...but evidently, the students took it casually, because the sirens were sounded twice in the past few weeks during the bomb scares.

Personally, I think the college prez is full of you-know-what. He had more lame excuses than a student who hadn’t turned in his term paper on time.

I’m definitely for non-felons carrying where ever and when ever they want but there is probably a better reason for Vermont and New Hamphsire having so little violent crime. It’s very un-PC to mention it, but they are probably the whitest states in the union (96%). Blacks are 1% in NH and less than that in VT. Add in another low crime group like Asians (1-2%) and you end up with a population coming almost entirely from low crime groups. The sad tragedy that is young black male crime just doesn’t hit those two states.

And when they open their big fat mouths, it will come out that the House of Delegates shot down a bill allowing concealed carry on this very campus. We won't be the least bit mousy about the fact that they *are* trying to take advantage. If they want a gun-control fight, then by God, they'll get one.

Thought about it for a bit, and it’s the ghoulish equivelent of the locker-room postgame sports interview.

They are all universally uninteresting, nothing but repeated cliches, mean nothing, provide no useful information, and really nobody in the audience has any interest in them either...but they fill Sportscenters, etc.

Simply because the media has the OPPORTUNITY and the unique ACCESS they feel it HAS to be used and there’s something important about doing it.

Busy day at work kept me from following the story real closely, then busy evening at home.... it finally occurred to me that all the talking on the radio and here was postponing the emotional impact of what happened.
