There have been reports from the students inside the building that the gunman didn’t say a word except to line up against a wall; he just went around methodically shooting people with no emotion on his face. I thought I also heard that the suspect shot himself; the police did not fire their weapons at all. Therefore, all of the shots you hear on that one videotape are of the gunman’s weapons going off.

Considering the small amount of weapons he had, his kill ratio was sickeningly high. The Columbine killers had far more firepower and stronger weapons, and much more students in that building, and had a very low death toll considering the amount of people in the building. Of course those Columbine killers were possibly much younger than this bastard, but his work inside that building (IMHO) was of a trained killer. If he wasn’t, he had an incredible amount of controlled rage for a jilted lover.

There’s conflicting information in the ABC story re: the e-mail. They say it went out at 9:24. They place the time of the later shootings around 9:45, then they say the later shootings happened before the e-mail went out. It can only be one or the other. I’ve seen several other timelines that indicate the e-mail preceded the other shootings.

The criticism of slow response I liken to the Katrina response criticism; it's humanly impossible to deal with both situations effectively, but easy to point fingers.

When somebody says "terrorize" or "terrorist" I tend to think along military/political terms, not somebody who snaps or hates the world and wants to take a few people with him.

If anybody has any links, I'd be curious to read about people like Whitman and the Colombine kids, etc., who snap and yet are rational enough to plan out all kinds of scenarios and prepare to kill as many as possible before they are killed or suicide. It's just bizarre to think about being so psycho as to do this, and yet plan it out, write about it in advance, etc.

On another note, Fred Phelps has decided his little inbred clan of merry followers should protest at the funerals of the VT dead (godhatesamerica.com). As much as they've protested at the funerals of soldiers, I figured one of these days they'll get in over their head, and this will probably be it.

A full candid answer of that would be too distracting an aside to an important thread.

No more so than your vague allusions.

Right - the Norris Hall shooter was Asian. His description does not match the description of the person they thought was the Dorm shooter - according to that press conference.

He maybe ex-Red Army. Which would add to the idea that he felt he deserved better.

I hope you’ve seen this female student interviewed. (she is almost bald - that’s what I remember, not her name). They keep replaying her interview.

You said it. He didn’t just “flip” over a girlfriend and randomly start shooting......

It’s all too weird.

The kill ratio here (in terms of number of shots to kills as well as to number of available targets to kills) is astounding.

This guy practiced for this. It is one thing to hit stationary targets.

It is decidedly more difficult to hit moving targets.

LOL - well all of them made me want to puke tonight - I flipped around all the channels and they are ALL HORRIBLE. Paula Zahn and Wolfie on one, NG and her sub on one, Greta and Geraldo on one (they were actually better than the others IMHO), and so on and so forth. Best info is right here.

If I am not mistaken, the police admitted they may have been chasing the wrong suspect at one point. But they never elaborate, and there were no follow-up questions.

See, this ABC stuff comes from the same press conference that everyone else was at, it seems, and everyone else sort of presented it as Police semi-admitting they were initially looking for the wrong guy, but ABC chose to make a banner headline that they were "breaking" that there may be a second shooter involved.

Seems like a siren early with the first shooting would prevent any classes from even starting. They did not have the shooter, thought he left the area. First classes not till 8am. Also if sirens go off and you are on your way to class you turn around. Could hear it from your car, parking lots etc. I don’t agree with Greta that after several you would ignore it. Tornado sirens have gone off twice here in less than a week and we didn’t ignore it. At least you could tell parents you tried.
