You miss the point. No one thought that. But a murderer was loose on the campus. Typically police officers try to find the suspect while keeping nearby folks out of harms way. It's called "Shelter-in Place." And to do it successfully, you need to spread the word ASAP.

I agree. "Lock Down" is a control concept that naive bureaucrats who administer educational systems have borrowed from prison management. IMO, there should have been a "CALL to ARMS" which after which 5,000 armed citizens would have cornered this vermin and put hundreds of rounds of ammunition into his body, thus ending the assault (as well as his use of much needed oxygen).
Like I said, pretty common name in Palestine. Shame on Blitzer for only telling us his family was “well known,”...he should have elaborated, LOL.
Student visa people are not permanent residents, though. In fact, the student visas are not supposed to segue into permanent status, even though they aren’t tracked as well as they should be.

This was a military type attack that was meant to do the maximum damage with minimal risk. The bomb threats etc is far too professional. This guy was a trained killer.
