FNC is reporting the GW Univ. sent out emails to be on alert
What is that about??
“You just admitted some of your government places are no-weapons zones.”
Government places with strictly controlled entrance points, and metal detectors.
The way kids are today (and their behavior proves them still kids, not adults), perhaps we should move (the voting age) BACK to 21. (Lets recall it WAS higher, please - funny, in days when men behaved like men at the age of 15.)
Maybe you should stop getting your impression of 19-year-olds from the mainstream media.
I know plenty who are responsible, mature adults. I'm sure there are also plenty who aren't, but there's no shortage of irresponsible 40-year-olds, but no lover of freedom would suggest that we start taking away their rights.
We need fewer restrictions on liberty, not more.
I think that was a "misreport" from several of the news articles, but that in fact one of the students who tackled the shooter had a weapon trained on him when they tackled him. I'll have to find my "gun ping" information for that one.
Uninformed?
I’m not even 40.
I was in college just 15 years ago and I had the same opinion then. I was that age, you know.
Now, we commonly have RIOTS where people get killed and people’s property and livelihoods are ruined because these spoiled brats are upset their team lost.
And it’s not just “certain kinds” of college towns, either.
Of course this is all hyperbole, but it is CLEAR to me, and I lived through it (as did my brother 10 years older), that “selfish hedonist” is a good description of far too many college students now. Their % of the college population is great enough to cause problems if things get crazy - which they frequently do.
No one noticed the RA & the girlfriend was dead for over 2 hours?
Where'd you hear that?
The June 2006 bomb-maker was a student, apparently asian.
Uh-oh ... I have a feeling this is not going to be a "clean grief" aftermath ... controversy, politicization, and lawsuits will abound.
For now, though, God bless the hurting families ... and the injured.
I too believe that this incident may have been a planned event. The shooter certainly was familiar with the campus. Whether he was a student, a staff member or an outsider is open to question. A large campus like VMI is wide open for anyone to enter. It is still hard to believe the entire campus was not shut down after the first shooting incident. I also hope other university campuses around the country improve their own security. I recently visited Stanford Univ. and all facilities were wide open to visitors.
This story is circulating around the globe, and still no shooter ID.
I personally find that odd. If he was a student, surly his name would have been leaked, or reported by now.
It would seem if the shooter had any connection to the campus, a girl friend at the campus etc, someone would have ID'd him by now.
I know. I also know looking at regional ethnic features doesn’t tell you much else about the person except where his ancestors came from, nothing about what he believed...
If you don’t mind, I’m headed that way shortly. Could I impose on you to post anything you hear in this regard?
Many thanks.
Not to parse but Valu Jet was May 11, 1996.
The fact that law enforcement would be silent isn’t shocking ... that would be expected ...
it’s that the media hasn’t gotten any wiff of anything from any of the students that knew/knows the girlfriend. Law enforcement couldn’t keep these kids under lock and key ... and we know the media is getting alot of talk from students.
That’s the source I’d expect, the friends or classmates of the girl in question.
I started to follow this from noon on and found, gulp, MSNBC had the best coverage. Fox was so out of it that it was pathetic.
One fact came to the fore for me immediately. The wind is atrocious here and I am north of you. They mentioned no choppers in or out meaning that some could not be evacuated to major trauma centers (as in Charlottesville). Also, even the big brass coming to assist had to drive in instead of fly.
In your gut, do those on scene think this lack of aerial movement was kind of a “force multiplier?” Also, why did this “beast” chain the doors in the one building; that sounds pre-meditated to me.
Frank
Good luck with that.
The Democrats would like it lowered to age 16...even 12.
I work at Tech and the story I’ve heard is that the boyfriend himself spent the night with the girlfriend and that they got in an argument in the morning. When others in the dorm came to her “rescue” he pulled a gun and killed the girlfriend. The RA then came to help and was shot in the foot. No idea whether this is true, but it’s what I heard.
