Damn! Will be on Fox today with Neil Cavuto.
For some of the other famous people who have dealt with lymphoma, more analysis:

Also, a blog post on this by Fred:

“As I said earlier, we do not yet have the specific information needed to completely assess the situation. But the little that has been released thus far leads me to believe that he should not run.”

I Disagree.
My take is completely opposite that, and we have similar family circumstances with this respect. My brother was well able to carry on with his normal life - it simply cut into his waking time during the times he had to fight this thing, but other than needing 8-10hrs of sleep during those times, he was as active as most people.
19 years ago, my dad died of a form of leukemia that was supposed to be controllable, so you never know.
BTW.if anyone can dig out that thread...I seem to recall several comments that Fred didn't look that great..that he looked older..there were several pics to illustrate the point.
The jury's already out on that one, as far as I'm concerned anyway.
I hope he runs.
Oh Freeper “SE Mom” corrected me on that one. It was from his previous interview on Fox. I wish Fox News would do things better.
He’s in his mid60s, for criminy sake, how is he supposed to look? Like Robert Wagner? lol
ain’t he’s Tennessee hill folks, run ragged over years of drinking acting politicking and partying. ;-)
Okay, thanks! I still hope he runs :)
And that says a lot.
Run Fred run!
I disagree. When he first announced, he wanted to see what kind of response he would get. He must have liked what he’s seen so he came out and announced his lymphoma. If there was not the response to his possibility to run, there would be NO REASON to tell everyone about his lymphoma. That is very personal information and there would be NO reason to tell everyone if he wasn’t going to run. Not only is HE GOING TO RUN, BUT WILL BE OUR NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!
Check out post#380 for more “specific information” including statements Thompson’s doctor has made regarding the situation.
Apparently *Fred* asked for the interview to discuss a “medical matter” with Neil Cavuto, which will be shown on Neil’s show this afternoon. That’s purposeful timing and release of pertinent news .. and that’s telling.
You’re missing the point...I would happily be an enthusiatic supporter of his candidacy. I believe the way this was handled will hurt his chances. The fact that he delayed mentioning it, even by a few weeks, was not the smart thing to do...now it’s the only issue being discussed, whereas, had it come out at the same time, it would have been alongside the announcement that he was considering running.
Norm..some 60 y.o.’s can look and feel 50, others look 80. I’m 59...and run a 10k race..every month. I don’t think m my two sons-in-law could run a mile in under 10 minutes...and I can beat BOTh of them at tennis, golf, even basketball..That’s not the point. Comments were raised on the thread by several Freepers, who are Fred supporters, that in nhis appearance he looked older, tired than a short time before. No more, no less...in the context of this announcement, it’s not good for him.
Thanks for the ping.
Yes, it will be discussed now, for a few weeks, then he will announce. People are far to into him to allow this to hurt his chances. If you read this entire thread, you see will 99% of us not only continue to support him, BUT FEEL MUCH STRONGER ABOUT IT. It’s really no big deal and I don’t see how this hurt him in any way.
Frankly Ken if his doctor says his prognosis is good I tend to believe it as opposed to say a Freepers speculations whos motivations are unclear.
ahhhh traderrob, excellent point!
