Scientists at a state animal health laboratory confirmed Monday that a popular brand of pet food submitted for testing by Marin veterinarians was indeed contaminated, even though it is not on a growing list of recalled pet foods.
At the request of the Mill Valley Pet Clinic, three varieties of Nutro Max Cat Gourmet Classics, in 3-ounce cans, were tested by the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System at the University of California Davis School of Veterinary Medicine.

Why all the hub-bub. The FDA says there are only 15 confirmed cases of pet deaths.
Nothing to see here folks. /sarcasm

LOL!
Stick around, it could get a lot worse!
I remember a novelty store here selling fur covered ceramic cats from China. The fur was amazingly life like.
It was -real- cat fur!

I don’t think that is what happened. I think they had poor quality mill scrapings that had infestation and some lower official thought they could treat it and sell it without there being any ill effects. It doesn’t make sense for a business to purposely sell poisonous food unless they want to kill their livelihood as well as their clients.

Thanks for that list. My mew eats two of them. And he hates people food mostly. At least the healthy stuff. And a steady diet of junk food ain’t on the menu.

I heard last week that CNN was reporting that the Ol' Roy dog biscuits sold in Walmart were being recalled. I looked at the bag that I have, and wheat gluten was not listed as an ingredient. I didn't see the recall anywhere else, either. Does anyone have more info on that? I'm on the FDA recall e-mail list, and it hasn't said anything about the Ol' Roy biscuits.

"I havent been able to eat Chinese food since I read about their use of human hair (clippings from the floors of Chinese barber shops) to make artificial soy sauce."
What was the source of this information? If true, I will pitch my soy sauce and stay away from Chinese restaurants as well.

Wonder how long viruses and bacteria are viable in old used, moldy, rotting, recycled, materials from Chinese hospital waste. Check this out:
China Finds 20% of Toys Substandard
For instance, some dolls were discovered filled with industrial waste, such as black-colored moldy cotton or gauze discarded by hospitals, and have been linked to allergy cases among kids.

Oh, I'm sorry. I meant Durbin's handling of the hearing. Like trying to blame the FDA for everything, refusing to accept that Congress bailed on its oversight responsibilities, and letting the PRC off the hook.
Pet owners won't put up that.

The problem is doing business with communist China. Maybe the liberal PETA types (most of whom wince at enviro-terrorism, but are just sappy pet owners who watch way too much “Animal Planet”) will join with conservatives to stop doing business with this evil regime.
To: Milwaukee_Guy
A thread last week said that 20% of the tainted gluten was unaccounted for and could possibly have entered human food.
