Rudy Giuliani has a lot to learn about campaigning outside of New York City.
The former New York mayor attended a roundtable discussion with heavy-hitters at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City recently. Two of the three co-hosts were natural gas billionaires who are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.
Mayor Giuliani was doing fine until one CEO asked him what his energy policy was, a participant said. He gave a very detailed and lengthy answer covering every energy source imaginable, but he never once uttered the words natural gas. Considering where he was, who he was talking to, and who was sponsoring the fundraiser, it was very insulting and showed a lack of preparation.
Another participant started to ask a question about Iraq.
In the middle of the question, Mayor Giulianis personal cell phone rang, and he answered it, the participant said. At first, I think people thought he was kidding. But then he just started talking; and without looking up or saying anything to us, he just got up, left the room, and never came back! Everyone waited about 20 minutes, and then the room started to break up. It was bizarre behavior.
A Giuliani spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.
The link doesn’t work. Please correct it.
I am merely pointing out that which I have consistently decried since I started posting here, and that is the use of unnamed sources. People familiar with me know I distrust them, because with no way to verify a fact or quote from such an unnamed source, a reporter could actually make things up (which I am certain the New York Times does as a matter of company policy).
My standard is the same for ALL stories and ALL media. I don't give anyone a pass on this because it has contributed so much to the poor state of journalism that we suffer with today.
Boy it sure would be a departure from the current President who I believe has given everyone (Condi, Cheney, etc, included I believe) the notice of “no cell phones” when they are in a meeting, press conference, etc.
Newt didn't want Chinagate told like it was.
well if you had been stiffed by Giuliani for 2800 bucks, would you allow your name to be publicised? Remember, Kessler cited 2 participants. Also there is the little matter of Giulianis staff/campaign NOT denying it......I’m skeptical of Newsmax occassionally, too, but face it, they’re not WND or Debka.
The phone call was from his campaign and they said “natural gas”, “natural gas”, so he left the room to fart.

Bump
If, God forbid, he did become the GOP nominee, it is becoming more and more obvious RINO Rudy would ticking time bomb for the party. It’s just a matter of time before he has one of those screeching Howard Dean moments.
It was Judi Giuliani on the phone——now that she’s out of the Cabinet, she demanded Rudy arrange a sit-down with Don Imus, to announce her nomination for vice-president.
JulieAnnie is the GOP’s equivalent of Howard Dean. It’s time party officials work on pushing him out of the race before he alienates more of the base or does something that will smear the whole party in 2008.
And, I’ll bet his is something we won’t be hearing about on the Sean Hannity show or from George Will...
Per the Giuliani HQs, it was indeed Judi on the phone, and she was just telling Rudy that he needed to stop by at the 7-11 to pick up a quart of milk, no big deal.
If anything, this will endear Giuliani to the public. They are going to use this in one of his campaign ads.
Newsmax missed the boat on this one!

“Its time party officials work on pushing him out of the race before he alienates more of the base or does something that will smear the whole party in 2008.”
Why don’t you send him a letter telling him to quit the race . . I am sure he will comply if he knows you don’t approve of him running for the GOP nomination.
Don’t fail to notice the question asked right before the phone ringing was about Iraq. A very sticky subject for Americas best presumed hero.
Having the phone there, ready to ring with important calls was most likely planned, in case of an unplanned for question without a planned, calculated answer.
As a kid, when the phone rang and it was someone you didn’t want to hear from, you would go Hello? Hello?...uh, Hello?...and then hang up.
This stuff just makes me laugh!
The not ready for primetime players present...
Let’s face facts folks, the entire Giuliani campaign is a lie. This candidate brings nothing to the table aside from his pro-abortion, pro-gay, and anti-gun views, and it’s only the people who support such positions who have any interest in promoting him.
