Rudy's Bizarre Behavior (Unbelievable)
NewsMax.com ^ | 4-09-07 | Ronald Kessler

Rudy Giuliani has a lot to learn about campaigning outside of New York City.

The former New York mayor attended a roundtable discussion with heavy-hitters at the Oklahoma History Center in Oklahoma City recently. Two of the three co-hosts were natural gas billionaires who are CEOs of Fortune 500 companies.

“Mayor Giuliani was doing fine until one CEO asked him what his energy policy was,” a participant said. “He gave a very detailed and lengthy answer covering every energy source imaginable, but he never once uttered the words ‘natural gas.’ Considering where he was, who he was talking to, and who was sponsoring the fundraiser, it was very insulting and showed a lack of preparation.”

Another participant started to ask a question about Iraq.

“In the middle of the question, Mayor Giuliani’s personal cell phone rang, and he answered it,” the participant said. “At first, I think people thought he was kidding. But then he just started talking; and without looking up or saying anything to us, he just got up, left the room, and never came back! Everyone waited about 20 minutes, and then the room started to break up. It was bizarre behavior.”

A Giuliani spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

Assuming Rudy’s behavior was reported accurately, it does sound very strange.

I wonder will they get a refund or reduced rate on Giuliani’s appearance fees? and I’m anxious to know the excuse he fabricates to cover his behavior.

Maybe someone listening in and advised him to get the heck out of there before he went down in flames. I don’t think he will be the one fighting Hitlery for the Oval Office. We can hope not.

There are starting to be much more qualified members of the Republican “I wanna be President” list. Hunter and Thompson come to mind. I really like Newt because he’s so smart and knows the ropes backwards and forwards. He tells it like it is.

Having a friend who worked in his administration, and the administration before his and now as well, “arrogance” and the demonstration of self-deserved “entitlement” shown by certain elements of the entire political class does fit Rudy’s political persona.

His ideas on policies and which will play a greater or lessor role in how he runs an administration - his personality or his beliefs - will be anyone’s guess.

I see Rudy as a John Lyndsay Republican. Conservative on crime but not very conservative on much else. He believes too much in government as solution.

thurs Mar 29....snipped from elsewhere:

After dining on ribs and brisket, the presidential aspirant went to the Oklahoma History Center, where 125 fundraising tickets were sold, an aide said. Supporters paid $2,300 for a reception and photo opportunity with Giuliani and $500 to attend a cocktail party where he spoke. The event was closed to the press.

Generally I have found Newsmax to be an untrustworthy source on any topic. On this juicy of a story I find it hard to believe that Newsmax would have received the first call with the “goods”.

They” will be here any minute to clear this up.

Sure, let me help you with some of this. The behavior was horrible manners, and inexcusable. Assuming the story is true, anyone who defends such behavior is a nitwit, and I don't find the incident trivial. How is that for a "bot?"

This probably is fairly common among people who have worked in government all their lives.

The newsmax is mere hearsay. If the story is true, it would be something if the incident was filmed and posted on the You Tube.

125 fundraising tickets were sold, an aide said. Supporters paid $2,300 for a reception and photo opportunity with Giuliani and $500 to attend a cocktail party where he spoke

$2300 x 125 = $287,500

$ 500 x 125 = $ 62,500

and he stiffed them!

Here is another report from Oklahoma...

Giuliani Offers Advice For Blair In Metro Stop

-SNIP-He said he would fight to reduce the federal deficit, just as he "turned around" a debt- and crime-ridden New York City.

Giuliani arrived in Oklahoma City during a driving rainstorm about an hour after a tornado warning was sounded. A tornado touched down in western part of the city shortly before his visit, injuring four people.

Giuliani, who apparently was unaware of the extent of the storm, said Oklahoma City was "very, very dear to my heart because of what we shared in common." After dining on ribs and brisket, the presidential aspirant went to the Oklahoma History Center, where 125 fundraising tickets were sold, an aide said. Supporters paid $2,300 for a reception and photo opportunity with Giuliani and $500 to attend a cocktail party where he spoke. The event was closed to the press.

At Earl's Rib Palace in Oklahoma City's Bricktown, Giuliani signed autographs and posed for pictures for free. "I definitely want to be part of the campaign," said 17-year-old Hunter Ligon, mayor of the Youth Council of Oklahoma City, a civic organization of young people that shadows the local government. Byron McGovern and his wife, Cheryl, posed with the mayor with their daughters -- 1½-year-old Elle and 6-year-old Casady. "It's nice to be able to pick your boss," said McGovern, a Pennsylvania native who is in the Air Force and stationed at Tinker Air Force Base.

Giuliani signed several copies of his book, "Leadership," and some in the crowd said they had been inspired by speeches based on the book given by Giuliani at the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University.

"I feel like nobody's going to understand the threat of terrorism like Rudy Giuliani," said 20-year-old Jeff Peters. "I'm going to vote for him and help out as much as I can in the campaign."
