RALEIGH, N.C. - Elizabeth Edwards says she is scared of the "rabid, rabid Republican" who owns property across the street from her Orange County home - and she doesn't want her kids going near the gun-toting neighbor.
Edwards, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, particularly recalls the time neighbor Monty Johnson brought out a gun while chasing workers investigating a right of way off his property. The Edwards family has yet to meet Johnson in person.
"I wouldn't be nice to him anyway," Edwards said in an interview. "I don't want my kids anywhere near some guy who when he doesn't like somebody, the first thing he does is pull a gun out. It scares the business out of me."

Is she vowing to stay away from Webb and the rest of the democrats that also carry guns, or is it really neighbors that she's afraid of...or republicans?
LOL. What a dingbat. She’s never met him... but she knows he’s a rabid Republican.
And she wants sympathy?
The guy posted a “Go Rudy Giuliani” sign on his fence, so I guess he’s really a RINO. </s>
He's not a Republican, he put up a Rudy sign.
The Edwardses are still putting the final touches on the property, which they purchased in 2003.
"I thought he was supposed to be for the poor people," Johnson said. "But does he ever socialize with any poor people? He doesn't speak to me."
This guy is my new hero.
Is this the two Americas Edwards talk of? Poor Republicans taxed into the poor house by limousine liberals so they can spend the money of entitlements that ensure a voting majority that enables them to stay wealthy and in power.
More likely those ‘investigating’ guys were looking to clear cut even MORE land around the ‘neighborhood’—don’t blame the neighbors for getting a bit upset myself!
LOL...I guess if a real republican were her neighbor she'd have a bomb shelter built.

The gave enough information to identify the guy specifically. Colloquium? Check. She called him “rabid.” Capable of defamatory meaning? Check. Miss Edwards seems like an otherwise decent and interesting person, but she wronged someone here, and it wouldn’t be unjust for her to get sued.
This phrase cracks me up.
Whenever I hear or read, "gun-toting", I always get an image of some young dandy prancing about with his nickel plated Colt Python .357 magnum slung over his shoulder in a mauve gun cozy, properly accessorized with a few buckles and sequins.
I live in NC. All their neighbors hate them
Rabid? (we are moving into new territory here)
What’s the difference between a rabid Republican and a rabid Democrat?
NickatNite2003 did win the 2005 EB White award for literary genius, so don’t judge his writing style.
