The gave enough information to identify the guy specifically. Colloquium? Check. She called him “rabid.” Capable of defamatory meaning? Check. Miss Edwards seems like an otherwise decent and interesting person, but she wronged someone here, and it wouldn’t be unjust for her to get sued.

She has also made claims about the irresponsible use of a firearm. I wonder where she is getting this information from?

Assuming that he has a good name in the community to begin with, her statement implying that he is the type who would shoot first and ask questions later would certainly be injurious to his standing in the community. I’d say he has the elements of a case.

Mr. Johnson is not a public figure so, it seems, a case for slander could be made.

Sorry, but in my opinion, no jury would treat “rabid” as an assertion of fact. It is clearly intended to mean that she is identifying him as an extreme or ardent Republican, which is a matter of opinion, and not “harmful” even if factually untrue.

Like calling someone a “major league a$$****.”

Nothing remotely like falsely calling someone a “criminal”, “tax cheat”, or “child molester.”
