Hostage Crisis: It's hard to say what was more troubling about the latest ordeal Iran's immoral and illegal seizure of 15 British sailors or the fond farewells the ex-hostages bid their captors.
It's easy to sit on the sidelines and criticize, particularly someone who's been through a grueling ordeal. And that certainly describes what Britain's sailors went through.
That said, the reactions of those sailors and indeed, of the British government during the whole crisis was distressing. Is this all that's left of Britain's once-famous martial spirit? Let's hope not.
In an earlier age, sailors and marines of Her Majesty’s armed forces would have fought to the last man and chosen death before dishonor, rather than to bring such disdain and stain to the United Kingdom.
How is it that such de-evolution has occurred that allows soldiers to rationalize that it is more important to do anything and everything to preserve their own lives, instead of fighting to the death in defense of their honor, their fellow soldiers, and their Nation?
This sad spectacle bodes nothing good for Britain, Sir Winston will see from on high his words again come true, ‘you have chosen dishonor over war. you shall have both.’
The sun isn’t setting, it’s already nighttime for the U.K.
God Save the Queen.
Agreed. I find this incident more sobering than anything the enemy itself has done. It’s illustrative of where the West finds itself.
It was simply a very public test of the UK strength and their will, and no one needs to be told how badly the UK failed which puts them at the same level of all the other Euroweinies who occupy the continent. The EU will not stand up to the Islamo-fascists within their borders or outside their borders.
But are the leaders any different?
I have a hunch we'll soon find out...
God Save the Queen.
I didn't know you were that big a fan of Tony Blair /sarc>
Cheers!
Of course, the operative phrase could be "prisoner of war". Not having a declared state of war could have slowed the British chain of command's thinking process until it was too late to react. The Code of Conduct
I am an American fighting in the forces that guard my country and our way of life, I am prepared to give my life in their defense.
I will never surrender of my own free will. If in command, I will never surrender the members of my command while they still have the means to resist.
If I am captured I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.
If I become a prisoner of war, I will keep faith with my fellow prisoners. I will give no information or take part in any action which might be harmful to my comrades. If I am senior, I will take command. If not, I will obey the lawful orders of those appointed over me and will back them up in every way.
Should I become a prisoner of war, I am required to give name, rank, service number, and date of birth. I will evade answering further questions to the utmost of my ability. I will make no oral or written statements disloyal to my country and its allies.
I will never forget that I am an American fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions, and dedicated to the principles which made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
You’re a funny fellow, LOL
American Hostages held in Iran.
And how did we respond to this action by NK?
We apologized.

These characteristics now belong to the Al Quaeda and Islamist soldiers, like it or not.
These latest events reemphasize how close we in the west are to unconditional surrender without a fight.
The sun began to set sometime during WW I.
Our military has orders to engage immediatly. The UK and Iran just had a screw-up. Nothing to go to war over. A lot of stupid crap goes on. Usually whatever military force is told to go away. The problem in that area is piracy and hijacking of merchant ships. And the reason for ship-to-ship communication is they can’t stop on a dime.

The three choices of Islam: Convert, death, or dhimmi. It would be prudent for readers of our board to start pondering... just in case.
