When did it come to the point that being a Christian meant caring about only two issues, abortion and homosexuality?
Ask the nonreligious what being a Christian today means, and based on what we see and read, it's a good bet they will say that followers of Jesus Christ are preoccupied with those two points.
Poverty? Whatever. Homelessness? An afterthought. A widening gap between the have and have-nots? Immaterial. Divorce? The divorce rate of Christians mirrors the national average, so that's no big deal.
The point is that being a Christian should be about more than abortion and homosexuality, and it's high time that those not considered a part of the religious right expose the hypocrisy of our brothers and sisters in Christianity and take back the faith. And those on the left who believe they have a "get out of sin free" card must not be allowed to justify their actions.
Many people believe we are engaged in a holy war. And we are. But it's not with Muslims. The real war -- the silent war -- is being engaged among Christians, and that's what we must set our sights on.

These folks that claim Christians are obsessed, are in fact the obsessed ones themselves. Christians fight poverty, lack of medicine, divorce, whatever “other issues” the secularists want to claim we ignore, every day of every week, of every month, of every year. We do it by helping and making a difference, where it counts. None of those we help are demanding we stop by coming into Churches and trying to change doctrines or the Bible. Just because we do not put out a press release of every helping hand extended, does not mean it isn’t happening. Unlike those who promote homosexuality or abortion, those we help, WANT our help.
Divorce among Christians is stronger than ever as well. This article is pure projection.

What would Jesus do?
That’s easy. When he saw the people hungry, he multiplied the loaves and fish and fed them.
As soon as I can do that trick, no problem.
The person said, “In the first place, we can’t really know what Jesus would do...because even when He was on earth He was never doing what His followers “thought” He should be doing.” Example, eating with publicans and sinners, pardoning the woman caught in adultury, etc.
The second point was, “And even if we knew what He would do...what makes us think we would do it.” His disciples certainly failed, and so would we. Even Paul said that the things that he wanted to do he didn’t and the things which he didn’t want to do he did.

It’s rather presumptuous of fallible sinners to even dream that they could be Christ. At best we can imitate Him know we ALL fall short.

The ugly truth is to “what would Jesus do” is we don’t know ... we can guess but as He states, His ways are NOT our ways. He’s got the WHOLE picture. He’s Perfect. We are not perfect or have the whole picture.

As a matter of fact I doubt Jesus would recognize anything in America (and much of the world) as even REMOTELY approaching what He saw as deadly poverty. Much of it, where it exists today, is the result of political action.
The guy is ignorant, a bigot, or both. Churches ranging from liberal to conservative maintain a vast array of social agencies and programs on behalf of the poor and the homeless, both here and worldwide.
I think he does get it. He makes the point that Christianity is not a political agenda, it’s a matter of faith. It’s certainly not about apocalyptic cults masquerading as churches, hypocrites who make millions from donations while having a masseuse on the side, or Holy Roller types who care more about condemming others while claiming that only those who think and believe the way they do are going to get special treatment from the man upstairs.

Christianity is about faith but the only issues he raises are with political agendas.
Someone hasn't read, 1 Corinthians 14:34, or 1 Timothy 2:12.
What most persons do not grasp is that to be a Christian is to be both subject to the Law and freed by the Gospel. The Law is what God demands from us. The Gospel is what He has done for us. Both are intrinsic in discipleship to the Christ. There is no conflict here for real Christians, only for posers.
There are briefer ways of saying, "I'm 'way out of my depth, and have no idea what I'm writing about."
But perhaps not clearer.

This debate is a straw man genereated by liberals to drive a wedge in the Christian community and break up the conservative block.
The effort is mirrored by move to drive a wedge between social conservatives and fiscal conservatives.
The twin forces of socialism and secularism are going all out to destroy the formidable base of the conservative movement, and with it our freedoms and our heritage.
The "christians" that abet this travesty are low indeed, they will however, receive unlimited face time in the media which is anti-christian.

A very misunderstood statement, written by Aliester Crowley. I’m not a follower of his by any means but I do have more than a passing familiarity with his writing.
It doesn’t mean ‘do whatever you want including raping babies and small animals,’ it means ‘understand your True Will and follow it.’ Your ‘true will’ isn’t doing whatever you want without consequence, it means understanding your purpose and fulfilling it.

There is a 100% correlation between people with your point of view and eventual disease and death, unless they die in an accident first.
